Lucidity reviews and comments

A nice little game, poetic and quite easy to take in hand. The mouse is quite adapted, you just have to be responsive and anticipate a little, nothing insurmountable even for the novice that I am. There is a (small) side Tetris in the fact of not mastering the parts that are available to evolve our character. To pass all the initial levels, wanting to go fast, it does not take very long or less than 2 hours. However the real challenge is to collect all the fireflies (or meet some challenges) and there is another story, in addition each lot of 100 fireflies gives access to a new level. So we have to redo the levels to collect the fireflies that we had left in previous passages and as the little girl is only moving forward but never come back... you have to go on several occasions and change your course. To advise to relax a few hours (and at low cost).

LucasArts takes on an independent developer and offers us a small 2D game with an original concept, a touching story and an artistic direction in the artisan style. After successes like world of Goo or braid, it was probably tempting to go play in the backyard of the little ones. Lucidity takes us into a universe where childish imagination deforms the events of reality and transforms them into a fantasy world. While SOFI crosses the landscapes she has known during her vacation at her grandmother's, a tragic event, as well as negative thoughts, make the nightmare environment little by little. The player must therefore help SOFI in his adventure by building a path that will avoid the pitfalls. The building blocks have each of the peculiarities that appeal as much to the physics as the player's precision. For example, we place a fan that puts SOFI in the air and a Slingshot above it so that once in the air, it is projected on a platform not far from there. The player has no other control over SOFI, much like in the game lemmings. Strangely we can also make a parallel between lucidity and Tetris. The building parts are given randomly and you have to place the blocks in the right places to make sure that the game can continue. During her walk, SOFI must try to collect fireflies that will allow her to access the other levels. Like any puzzle game, lucidity can create some frustration in the player. Although the concept is clear, one element remains a great factor of frustration, namely the fluidity of the cursor on the screen. Indeed, while the player places his blocks according to a grid on the screen, the pointer does not always follow the camera, especially when SOFI falls from high. This has the effect of making the cursor movement irregular. As a result, it happens a little too often that SOFI dives into a pile of bramps. Levels with no backup point and the world around SOFI becoming more and more aggressive, this gap creates a level of difficulty that can become unpleasant for some. Nevertheless, the game offers a good challenge as well as a new game mechanics and a pleasing visual style. Even if he has everything to please, stand up to warn and arm yourself with patience because although the character is endearing and the story is intriguing, some levels in addition to being repetitive require a good ten tests before being completed with Success.
