Monster Hunter Stories reviews and comments

All in all, MHS is a light-hearted game mostly for kids. It gets pretty grindy in the middle, but the ending is worth the struggle.

Gameplay: remarkable
Soundtrack: average
Voiceover: minimal (in nonexistent language?)
Graphics: average
Story: average

Overall: worthwhile

It was worth every cent. Biggest draw back is the map: you can’t zoom in or out, nor move around it. It’s where you are and you’ve to learn to deal with that. About the battle system is simple yet not lacking strategy. I’d argue for abilities taking a more prominent role during battling. Hatching system isn’t half bad, but it does get sort of tiring to have the whole DNA thing + mostly trashy eggs. I’d appreciate the cat telling me if I already have that monster or not more explicitly, instead of having to try and remember what each past egg was like. A notebook of sorts where you could write in-game annotations to help remembering tasks, egg characteristics or special monsters locations would also be cool and much appreciated. Still, it’s what any phone pocket monsters game should aspire to be at the moment.

..... After 50 hours of playing, fun, tension and perseverance comes the final. And that's really not entirely fair. The level of difficulty is very high to unfair. I mean! What else do I need to do? How high do I have to. I still level or equip. It annoys after several hour and days. I just don't win and expel the lust. Too bad a shame. I'm not a player who plays until vomiting. I want fun and motivation! This is definitely lost on the final. And if I see on youtube that players need about 45 minutes for the final and actually don't know which tactics to consider, then I don't know any more. Watch the ending in the video. Nice, good and I know how it turns out. I don't have to play this out. The fun is gone. It was available for at least 50 hours. Suffice that to happen to me. App will be deleted!

First of all, I would like to say that the Game is brilliant. The Advantage is that it is a completely finished game from Nintendo, just now as an App for the Smartphone. The Story has been very well implemented and there was one or the other Moment when I often had to laugh. The Reason I only give four Stars is because the Multiplayer, at least on iOS Devices, doesn't work. If I want to start a Duel against other Players, I was shown searching for a few Seconds, I wouldn't be connected to The Game via iCloud, which was apparently important. However, after a short Review, I discovered that the Game was connected via iCloud. I believe that this is a Mistake. That Is why I would be very pleased that this will be remedied, because I Think that is an important Factor in the Game. It would mainly result in the fun of Playing in longer.
