Psycho Starship Rampage reviews and comments

Translated by

Psycho Starship rampage is a Roguelike declined in the form of a shoot them up horizontal and developed by a small French Studio. Two game modes are offered: the campaign mode first allows us to navigate on a Galactic map whose principle is very similar to FTL. Indeed our ship is pursued by an enemy fleet and our goal is to reach the end of the map (the Earth) before it catches up with us. So we move for this node-to-knot purpose on the map, each node representing a level to be cleaned and containing are lots of enemies and equipment to pick up. In case of defeat in the level we do not move allowing the enemy fleet to catch us. The choices to achieve victory are therefore multiple and the results always uncertain. Going to tempt you a long way to collect as much equipment as possible at the risk of getting caught up by the enemy? Or rather a short path even if you find yourself unarmed in front of the dreaded last levels? Survival mode is a succession of random levels between which one can improve are ship thanks to the equipment harvested. Not all equipment is available at the beginning and these are unblocked by accomplishing certain objectives (destroy 1000 enemies with a laser Cannon for example). The customization of the ship accessible in both game modes is clearly the strong point of the title this one leaving totally free short to the imagination of the player. The possibilities are consequent thanks to a variety of equipment (plasma cannons, torpedoes, shields, motors, generators...). Each equipment also ailant unique statistics. Level artistic direction the game is doing very well. The backgrounds of the levels are very pretty and the "Neon" design of the vessels although simplistic is very nice and blends perfectly with the neat electronic music of the title. The sound effects are correct and the whole thing offers a convincing rendering. Positive points: almost unlimited lifespan thanks to the random generation of the player's full freedom levels at the level of the construction of his ship music excellent graphics nice full support of the local cooperative multiplayer controller ( up to 4 player) negative points: the ship's personalization interface is not very intuitive (fortunately a small tutorial is present and it is done quickly) psycho Starship rampage is the perfect mix between the shoot them up old school and the Roguelike modern type FTL. It is also developed by a small Studio Rennais and offered at a price more than modest. In short, a game to procure the eyes closed for any Roguelike lover and shoot them up.
