maybe the Illusionist. The balance isn't quite there yet, so the Mage or Warrior are probably your safest bets. I'll be impressed if anyone makes any progress as a Bard or Alchemist in their current states.
Lots of stuff still needs to be added. Plenty of skills, items, dungeons, locations, enemies - a bit of everything really.
Yes, it relies heavily on the default RTP with a few graphical additions on my part. My main aim was to complete a project in the engine and I knew that if I tried to build the graphics from the ground up, it would add much more time to the project, increasing my chances of getting fed up and abandoning it. I doubt I could produce anything that would look better than the RTP anyway.
Anyway, onto the game itself. After a short cut scene, you'll pick your class and race and just be plonked down onto the world map. Most of the towns are largely complete and accessible, though vendors will be tweaked as more items are created, so you can explore. My original intention was that you stumble on the main quest while looking for side missions. Right now you can only get a few quests in the Kingsholm area where you start and of course, one of those will turn out the main quest. The other two are pretty short though.

I believe that all you need to do is extract the attached zip file in full to any particular location and open the executable "Game.exe" but I'm sure you'll let me know in the comments if that doesn't work! :s
