About

Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry.
It is designed around the idea of "being thrown into the world". Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. The unsettling environment is a character itself.
Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you.
GAMEPLAY FEATURES
-Cohesive “lived-in” world - Scorn takes place in an open-ended world with different interconnected regions. Each region is a maze-like structure with various rooms and paths to discover. All the storytelling happens in-game, with no cut-scenes to distract you from the grisly reality of the living, breathing world you’re in. But keep your eyes open - the game won’t show you any sympathy if you miss something important on your uneasy travels. Everything has a reason and purpose - you just need to work out what it is.
-Full body awareness – Players will experience better immersion being aware of the character’s body and movement. Interaction with the world is realistic - objects are picked up with your hands (instead of just floating in midair), machines and instruments are operated by grabbing the controls etc.
-Inventory and ammo management - is defined and limited. It plays a big role in keeping the player in an even greater state of awareness throughout the whole game. Players will have to think about when to fight and when to take cover and how their actions affect the world around them. Different play styles will be needed to advance.
- Scorn part 1 of 2? Is the game split into parts?
Yes, we are planning to release it in two parts, with the first part coming in 2018.
These two parts represent everything that will ever be done. There will be no DLC, expansions or sequels. Ever.

Scorn reviews and comments

This game looks incredible. The art style and atmosphere of this game are unlike anything else I've played. Exploring this abandoned and crumbling world is captured in such a great way. I did find a few elements of the game to be pretty cruel. I know this is part of the game and the world they convey, especially later on but I still don't like harming a living creature, having it whimper, try to escape and reach out to me for help only to take it to get brutally killed just so I can grab it's arm. It is important to the tone but and realizing your character is just a selfish asshole. When it comes to the gameplay, that's a different story. The general exploration and puzzles are fine but the combat is awful and seems like an afterthought. The guns look great but there is no way to dodge attacks and the environments lead you to getting backed into a wall and dying. For the puzzle elements, this game really does just throw you into the world with no direction. This for the most part is fine, this creates an opportunity for the player to explore and test things. The issue here is this is an alien world where not a lot is familiar in form or function. I know this game had a troubled development, a lot of stuff was cut and reworked. It is insane to me that on top of just throwing the player into an unknown environment, the first thing they have you do is a slider puzzle. It's not hard, just trial and error but it's crazy this is the first thing they have players do. I saw previews for this game all the way back in 2014 and it seemed to be marketed as more of a horror game and not a Myst type game with this Giger esque horror style over it. I'm completely fine with that but I can't help think that this played a role in it's poor reviews. Overall I love this game because the style and atmosphere are so damn good. The combat elements are a pain but there isn't too much of it to detract too much.

Opening impressions (only like 30 mins) are as expected. The setting and atmosphere is very cool as creepy and I love it. The gameplay is going to suck. It looks like a confusing puzzle game which is not usually my genre.

So far I wish this was more a story walking simulator type game rather than a puzzle game. I don’t like the puzzles. The world is creepy and gross and interesting though. If they made a dead space style of game with this world I’d love it. It would be amazing.

The puzzles aren’t very clever. A good puzzles gives you the clues to discover what to do. This just feels like guess and check with whatever you can interact with. It’s tedious not fun or engaging.

Never went back to it and I don’t think I will. It’s just not worth my time.

Final Score: B-
One time thing. Those graphics and design was awesome, but nothing else((
First of all:
If you want a puzzle game - recommend
If you want an action game - skip
If you want a metaphorical short story - recommend
If you want a gore game - recommend
if you want an artistically amazing game - exceptional

With that aside, puzzle games are not really my thing, I tend to like to know what to do and where to go. The art style is amazing and it ran almost 60fps stable in a medium pc.
Glad I played in game pass, because it's not worth the 40€ price tag - maybe 15€-20€
