About

At the farthest edge of the explored universe, the research ship Xanadu slumbers in orbit around a mysterious planet. Her systems remain active but there has been no message from her crew for months. Now a lone operative has been sent to wake the Xanadu and bring her home to Earth.

Spirits of Xanadu is an atmospheric exploration game set aboard a deserted starship in an alternate 1980s. It draws inspiration from classic sci-fi films, novels, and games to create an immersive and highly interactive environment, featuring puzzles and FPS elements in the service of a unique and layered plot.Key Features:
  • Discover the truth
Get to know the crew and piece together what happened through fully voiced audiologs in addition to various types of documents and e-mails.
  • Three distinct endings
Make a decision based on what you have discovered, and decide the fate of the Xanadu.
  • No hand holding
You have one primary objective: Return the Xanadu back to Earth. There are no objective markers, you have no map, and the ship has been sabotaged. You begin your mission with only a flashlight and a message from your superiors back on Earth, the rest you'll have to figure out on your own.
  • Hot robot action with first person shooter combat
Evade the ship's security system while battling hostile robots.
  • Fully interactive environment
Inspired by the immersive environments of games such as Deus Ex and System Shock 2: Open every drawer, use every computer, and read every document you find. More importantly, you can flush every toilet.
  • Optional 'Peaceful' mode
Not a fan of violence against robots? Switch to the Peaceful difficulty setting in the options menu to make the robots passive, allowing you to explore the ship, experience the story, and solve puzzles at your own pace.

Spirits of Xanadu reviews and comments

Rather short but still beautiful. As for the Story, I'm not quite sure if I liked it or not. In any Case, you should take your Time and read the relevant Texts. Most of the Story is found on A4 Pages. Important Tip: Don't See the Flashlight at the Beginning. Without Light, the Game is a good Deal heavier!

Working (360) Controller support. The Developers have apparently never really looked at current Button Mappings, the Controls are definitely weird. The Game is clearly designed on Maus/Keyboard and Controller support is at most half-hearted and (beyond Mapping) not successful. Didn't really know what to do or how Things work. For Wiki Readers

The spie lan itself makes a very interesting Impression, but it is not playable, because the Button c, among other things for Ducking and kneeling, brings the Camera out of the Map, just like this, the Zoom leads the Charater suddenly sprinting forward and normal Speed. If you Press the E Button, the Camera jumps out of the Game world. Due to these Problems, the game is not playable, unfortunately it has to refund.

I like the Idea, the mood and all the little homages to classics. Most game mecanics work. It has exploration, fighting even stealth. Nice Buts: Most Button puzzles are clueless & some lack feedback. So it's a monkey's job. Pressing everything and running to the other side of the map, only to check if anything has changed. The game can get away with that because it's small. At the end, suddenly it takes you completelly linear by the hand but has some bugs if stuff is already completed. But nothing serious. I enjoyed it, good game :)

Good Afternoon, so first of all, the Game has potential and is not bad in itself either. The Positive thing is that you have a wide range of possibilities. In Addition, despite the fairly simple Graphics, the Atmosphere is very good and also coherent. Negative, even for the Reduced price, this is just way too short. Even the puzzles or even the Paths are not necessarily logical or even too "inconspicuous" (no different objects to use and unusable). Unfortunately, since for me this the negative prevails, I have to speak out against a Buy recommendation ...

Whether or not this Game receives a Recommendation depends on the Price. I bought it for about the Price of a Coffee. So price performance was perfectly fine. WHAT MIR GEFALL HAT:-You have the Opportunity to play through the game in different Ways: 1) completely nonviolent (Remotely reminiscent of Sneak Plays), 2) with Time Pressure, 3) Shoot on anything that moves-there are different Ends (I would be on my own But not to how to achieve these)-Atmosphere (latently eerie atmosphere, despite rudimentary Graphics very coherent Overall Impression) WHAT MIR NOT GEFALL HAT:-not all PUZZLES were logical for me-a rather short Game
