About

MEET EZRA WESTMARKThe Thin Silence is a narrative adventure game told through the introspection and recollection of Ezra Westmark. Inspired by games such as Limbo and Knytt Stories, follow the journey of Ezra from his self-imposed exile to forgiveness and hope.

The Thin Silence explores depression, self-doubt, struggles, and trials. Amongst the darkness, the game features that sound, that thin silence, which calls to us in our darkest hours. That sound we can’t hear or describe which somehow gives us the strength to try again and push through obstacles previously insurmountable.
It’s not a game about success.

It’s a game of enduring your worst moment and facing the next one. Walk with Ezra out of the darkness, uncovering the journey that led him there and the hope that leads him home.

EXPERIENCE THE STORY• Enjoy 4-5 hours of unique and varied challenges driven by a fresh item-vs-environment interaction mechanic.
• Experience breathtaking vistas & quiet contemplation
• Uncover Ezra’s crisis and his journey back, finding answers and a little bit of yourself along the way
• Featuring a moving original score by LightFrequency
• Over 40 unique in-game documents
• Mostly believable hacking sequences

The Thin Silence reviews and comments

The thin silence ▸ short video version available here: https://youtu.be/_0PddPeQ6wA it's almost heavy but mostly slow gameplay with which the thin silence builds. Yes the first point which will be more than one, it is this slowness which yet is also one of the strengths of this title; by the slowness one understands more the stakes and the discovery becomes more interesting still. The thin silence is not a "popular" title, its primary purpose is not to entertain but to tackle a theme little discussed on an over-utilized medium. A contrario of some games not using the mechanics specific to this media. The thin silence adapts completely and remains a video game in which the player serves something. And this player, he does not serve anything because he directs the narrative frame... No it serves something because he also lives what the character lives, he saw the difficulty, the depression, the history of the character. And something quite strong, this title is certainly one of the most suitable videogame works to realize an introspection or even to question itself. Developers suggest to pay attention to this because it tackles fairly heavy and black themes such as depression, suicide and any rather negative psychological form. I don't know what impact it might have on a person who's in a bad way, but pay attention to yourself. The thin silence is certainly as hard psychologically as some of his puzzles are. The thin silence is good, good because all the elements added by the developers follow the same path; whether it's the soundtrack, the graphics, the puzzles, the story. Everything dives into the same emotion or sensation. Pay attention to history, the history of manuscripts is just as interesting if it is more than the one that the main frame. What makes the thin silence a title entirely belonging to the video game media, these are the puzzles... Otherwise it would be almost a walking Simulator. But no, there are puzzles. And for the time being, these are not simple puzzles... You will live the journey of Ezra through depression and doubt in a post-civil war climate. Each puzzle you're going to settle will literally bring you closer to the top, and if they get you down, then they'll let you go back up again. Symbolized by the ascent of a mountain, this is how you will cross the 4 chapters by which Ezra must pass. To solve puzzles, you'll need to know how to control a gameplay element that looks simple at first but that actually is well thought out. You will find objects throughout your journey, the goal is to use these objects to be able to move forward. However to this it is necessary to add customisation. That is to say that some objects can be improved with others; This is how you can create a grapple for example. It is an element of gameplay that is not uncommon, but for the time I find it well used and adequate with the game itself. Puzzles are harder than most game puzzles I've played. Finally will know if they are tougher or just not coherent with my reasoning. The thin silence is clearly good but not everyone will appreciate it. In the first place, it is quite complicated to go in; If you are not English speaking, you will literally break your teeth. And even if the puzzles are nice, you lose in the change. Minimalist as possible, whether at the level of sounds or graphics, this title will still succeed in making you discover implicitly its history while keeping you on. I recommend the thin silence, but clearly not for everyone. It addresses in a very interesting way its thematic although it is not so easy to grasp but it will not make you absolutely easy life. It is worth to my liking the price that is fixed, IE €10. You can follow the page curator here: sacrez'art.
