Train Yard Zombie Survival
About
Inspired by Call of Duty: Zombies and other "Zombie Wave" shooters, I chose to recreate a similar game mode using Unreal Engine 4. This prototype took roughly 140 hours of development time between Oct 2020 to Feb 2021.
I had a fun time working on this concept and enjoyed learning about all the various tools and features that UE4 provides. I feel much more comfortable developing in C++ now and I am looking forward to using my skills towards my next projects.
Many thanks to the following content creators:
Tom Looman
For providing amazing learning material that dives right into Unreal Engine C++ programming. Tom's "Unreal Engine 4 Mastery: Create Multiplayer Games with C++" course on Udemy really helped me get familiar with using C++ in order to create modular and powerful game components. Check out his Udemy course and website if you are interesting in learning more about UE4 from a master! [ https://www.udemy.com/course/unrealengine-cpp/ & https://www.tomlooman.com/ ]
Volodymyr Stepaniuk
For creating the train yard level, this level allowed me to jump right into the core game development process and quickly build a theme and concept around an interesting backdrop. [ https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/train-yard ]
Mixamo
For providing a great selection of character models and animations for newcomers starting out on their prototype projects such as this one. I built the SWAT character and Zombie enemies using the meshes and animations they provided. [ https://www.mixamo.com/#/ ]
Sounds were sourced from "https://freesound.org/" and mixed on FL Studio.
And lastly big thanks to these UE4 YouTube content creators, they provided a great starting point for various ideas I wanted to get off the ground within this concept:
