About

The classic character platformer is back for the first time in over 13 years, and now in glorious high definition! Vince’s adventure takes him from the streets of New Orleans to the depths of a Louisiana bayou to find the whereabouts of his keeper, Madam Charmaine. In true voodoo style, Vince encounters and defeats quirky monsters and villains ... by kicking his own butt! By racing under a falling safe, jumping into a high-speed blender, or leaping under falling rubble, Vince is sure to defeat his enemies—all while managing to escape completely unscathed.

Features

• Voodoo combat action: Players can employ more than 30 voodoo attacks that do outrageous things to Vince, but it's the monsters who end up hurting! Unlike in other games, players must actually USE dangers and hazards, instead of running from them. Falling safes, prickly pushpins, and bolts of lightning bring a whole new meaning to the phrase "no pain, no gain."

• Magical voodoo world: Thrust into the depths of a twisted and dangerous world, Vince must trek through 30 detailed levels, including crawfish-laden swamps, a graveyard filled with imps and lost zombies, a fantastic French Quarter, and a network of boggy sewers.

• Vehicles and minigames: As the game unfolds, Vince must master and pilot a number of vehicles, including a fanboat, a submarine, an airplane—and even a rat gives him a lift at one point. Vince must master one mind-bending minigame after another to complete his quest.

• Dynamic cast of characters: No adventure would be complete without its host of surly characters. Offbeat creatures with all the charm of New Orleans are around every corner. Vince encounters everything from Ginger Dead Men (who are not exactly sugar-coated) to a pair of intoxicated gas pumps that offer up a fiery challenge.

Voodoo Vince: Remastered reviews and comments

A perfectly unexpected remaster for this Voodoo Vince who, despite some rather positive criticism at the time, has suffered a rather substantial failure in terms of sales on Xbox. But he's back, returning from the dead in a rather shy recast, but still appreciable. This is a classic old-fashioned platformer where you will take control of a Voodoo doll looking for its creator through a rather obscure universe, but stuffed with entertaining humor and an originality present because, for once, it will sometimes have to hurt you — literally — to beat your opponents, the whole principle of a Voodoo doll. So, burn, shear, crush, spread, grind... There are plenty of ways to torture Vince! Forcing, the Visual side to aged, but it remains rather clear even if it will never impress you really despite a sympathetic artistic direction that has a certain identity. The advantage is that it will turn on a good setup package. At the level of the soundtrack on the other hand, whether at the level of the dubbing or the musical themes, it is at all good! Some music even manages to stay in the lead. :) We find a good diversity of situation all along the game — which is not very long, it must be admitted — some of which remain somewhat surprising and deserve the surprise to be guarded! It is a pity that the bosses lack punch, they do not show any real danger except in the final level which can quickly be highly full-bodied. A friendly experience that I would definitely recommend to amateurs of the genre or curious/inquisitive, even if the last level will test your patience.

Yes, but: "getting hurt to hurt, getting caught in traps instead of avoiding them" looks like a nice statement from GameJam for a hell of a concept... That the game does not hold and could not hold! It is quite classic. a monster touches you? you lose life, in the water or in the void? You're losing a life. This rule of "hurting yourself to hurt" does not apply in the gameplay but in animations after having triggered a mechanism or in "Super attack" then, I imagine you are in the knowledge of cause but it is a pure plateformer 3D and not a bad. Only it's gone from fashion to the point or even the best plateformers that have existed no longer entertain big world, it's gone from fashion, so be already on-e to love it. Finally, at the level of the universe do not expect to have incredible hunts to the spirits Voodoo in the 4 corners of a super representation of New Orleans. The theme New Orleans and Bayou that can charm is not exploited thoroughly (you will be there anyway eh but it is far from being as spectacular as you can imagine) voila, but after that, I say yes, I recommend! the level design is good, the atmosphere is there, then above all, a huge variety of gameplay in the levels! It could have been some re-used gameplay ideas with different environments and difficulties, but no, very few levels are similar! An airplane level, a submarine level, a level in a suspended basket, a spring level, a level on a rat, a level to make mini games to collect tokens, a level to play with the hour, a level has well aiming at the cannons , a level to do the boat etc... That's why we're not. (I'm not saying there's no annoying moment, but we're not doing it) The only faults are the bosses who have almost all the same mechanics for the losers: activate activation points 3 times. A little short too but it remains suitable, and the levels go well, we feel good construction of the levels and it's nice. Also without being aggaant Vince throws funny phrases during gameplay (after beating a simple enemy for example) if it's your icing on the cake... Take if you are looking for a classic plateformer in 3D with lots of gameplays in a nice universe without a head. It's a good plateform.
