007 First Light is a successful, sincere, exhilarating reboot of a franchise we never thought we'd see again in video games. IO Interactive proves they had everything needed to reinvent Bond without betraying him. The story is well-crafted, intense, with a rhythm that almost never falters once past the introductory chapters. Action is accessible without being simplistic. The gameplay blends direct action, light stealth, and adventure in a well-balanced way. Hand-to-hand combat has real personality – Bond fights efficiently, brutally when needed, with polished animations and satisfying takedowns. Early training camp chapters start a bit slow (narratively intentional), but it fades quickly. This Bond is young, imperfect, sometimes impulsive – and that's what makes him interesting. Patrick Gibson is convincing in his own standalone continuity, not imitating cinema Bonds. Visually solid on the Glacier engine, soundtrack by The Flight is a success, voice acting excellent. If you come expecting classic Connery/Moore sophistication, you might miss that British elegance – First Light is a rawer, more physical, more modern Bond. Not a flaw, just different. You can see the foundations of a great series that can still improve with sequels. As it stands: a game to absolutely have in your library.
