A Walk in the Dark reviews and comments

Below is a Summary of my Test, which you can read in full On my Blog: http://polygonien.de/2014/08/indie-review-a-walk-in-the-dark/In Fact, in A Walk In The Dark there are three different Games: 1. Cat in traditional Fashion of a Platformer Through various Levels full of Dangers. Just like With Super Meat Boy, every Contact with the Opponents, Traps and Co. ends directly with the Passing of the Character. In the Course of the Game, the initially simple Obstacle Runs are then expanded with additional Elements, such as Platforms that change gravity. 2. Basically an endless runner, except that the Levels here also have a fixed End. So At The beginning of the Level the Cat starts running automatically and you only have to press the jump or Duck button in the right moments to avoid the Obstacles. 3. In these Sections you play the Owner of the Cat, a young Girl who can turn the Gravity of the Level Upside down at the Touch of a button, but cannot jump. Conclusion: Unfortunately, there is no real Story and the individual game elements are certainly far from new, but A Walk In The Dark combines it with impeccable control, stylish Look and a beautiful Soundtrack, allowing Jump & Run fans looking for a Real Challenge should definitely access.

I bought the Game on a-50% Action as I wanted to play it anyway and so of course didn't speak anything against it. In the Game, the Player himself can perform only a few Actions, such as Jumping, Moving, reversing Gravity and jumping off Walls. In some Cases, the Character also moves independently and it has to jump to the right Time Jump, with the jump distance variable, or the Gravity reversed. The Levels are sometimes quite demanding, but in my Opinion not unfair and the Learning Curve is not too steep either. As an Extension, there are two Challenges per level: To collect a luminous Ball in a (reasonably) difficult-to-reach place, and a Time Challenge that is either Undercutting a given time or crossing the Level without Death when First Attempt involves. In the Course of the Game, there are also ten ' Challenges ' that can be accessed via the Main Menu and provide even more demanding Levels. The Graphics are not very varied, which does not bother me personally, because it is nevertheless coherent. There are a few smaller Bugs that don't make the Game unplayable. One of these makes the Collision of dissolving Objects disappear only an Instant Later, which caused me slight frustration in some Places, because so my Character Was briefly captured in the Air and hit by a Projectile, So I died. Knowing what the Reason is and how the Job needs to be handled, though, you can definitely do it. Currently I still play the Game and also want to pass all the Challenges (collecting Balls, undercutting Time, Challenges) as I enjoy it and they are also fair and demanding. For the Prize, I Think you get a good Game that can also be played in between, as most Levels can be handled in about 12 Seconds (if you line up well;).
