About

A STORY ABOUT DIMENSIONS, SHAPES AND JEWELS
According to the Flat Kingdom’s legends, the world was once filled with malice and chaos because the 3D realm dominated all. But one day, a wise sorcerer created six Magical Jewels that kept the effects of the third dimension at bay, granting peace and prosperity to the beautiful 2D world.

However, one day an evil masked thief named Hex stole one of those Jewels and kidnapped the princess. This disrupted the balance and made the chaos return.

The king of Flat Kingdom knew there was only one being able to save their land: Flat, the little shapeshifting hero! With his unique abilities, he’s not only able to change his shape, but is also the only one in the kingdom capable of withstanding the 3D chaos.

Now the time has come. Flat must use his incredible powers to save the world and restore the Flat Kingdom to its former glory. Will he be able to stop Hex before it’s too late?GAMEPLAY
Flat Kingdom is filled with fun platforming action, puzzles and some Metroidvania elements. It also features a unique combat system! Instead of directly attacking your foes, you’ll have to touch them while transformed in the correct shape to beat them! Kinda like a rock-paper-scissor game.

Every shape in Flat Kingdom beats the opposite, so sharp triangles can defeat the soft circles, heavy squares beat the fragile triangles and squishy circles can triumph over the slow squares. Both enemies and puzzles can be beaten using the correct shape and strategy, so you'll have to observe them and come up with the best solution.

You can also learn new abilities along the way that will help you solve even more puzzles, beat enemies faster and reach new areas that were inaccessible to you before!FEATURES
  • Jump into a beautiful papercraft world, filled with details and references to classic games.
  • Test your might with epic and challenging battles against giant bosses.
  • Uncover all of the game’s secrets! There are side quests, upgrades and all kinds of surprises.
  • Learn all about the kingdom’s lore and history by finding hidden scrolls.
  • Music by legendary composer Manami Matsumae! (Mega Man, Shovel Knight).

Flat Kingdom Paper's Cut Edition reviews and comments

It Is difficult to emphasize within a library that, according to Gamespot's data, has more than 6.000 titles available to satisfy the tastes of gamers from all over the world; Flat Kingdom succeeded. The Adventure is notable for being very careful and a life of its own in its visual and sonorous aesthetics; Here we are introduced to Flat, the hero of a flaming kingdom where the hope of re-establishing order relies on rescuing the princess while recovering mysterious gems. The good Thing: Flat Kingdom is an excellent starting game for the Mexican studio Fat Panda Games. They Understood that to emphasize they had to ally themselves with characters that complement them and the production of the game speaks by itself. At par, the fact that Flat plays with the mechanics of geometry gives freshness to a well-known genus within the industry. The game shines in its music, its visual work and of course its history. The bad: We Feel that the game lacked time to serve to prevent Flat to die repeatedly in battles against bosses or jumps that might give without problems, could not be completed. We really Hope that these flaws can be reported and corrected. It Also has a weak interface where we don't know exactly the progress in each level or we have a restart button that sends us to the last checkpoint. Finally, the battles with the bosses are epic but they become unrecordable when by errors in their design they are not enjoyed as they should.

Flat Kingdom is one of the most pleasant surprises I have had the opportunity to play (and enjoy) in recent years, I will try to describe my reasons. 2D platform games can become repetitive, unoriginal or simply boring; It is not the case of Flat Kingdom, on the contrary, it is a title that offers a very original system basing the gameplay in three known transformations, stone, paper or scissors. This element (stone, paper and scissors) is masterfully exploited during the game; The interaction with the enemies and the surroundings depend constantly on the geometric form that we decide to use, and it was developed in such a way that it always looks cool and entertaining. It is Worth mentioning that the controls respond very well and the sensitivity of the jumps is very comfortable. The levels respect the classic environments of such a game; Environments of fire, water, forests, snow etc. But thanks to the peculiar game system already mentioned, the experience of the worlds are completely innovative and different, but familiar at the same time, since you can detect tributes (or winks) to the great classics of the past. The most satisfied Thing left me was without a doubt the bosses. All I liked, both in design and in difficulty, I found no tedious combat, all are defeated in different and creative ways. In my opinion, the bosses are the crucial part for a platform game to be remembered or not, and apparently the designers agree with it, as it is a detail that was taken very seriously and the result is outstanding. The music was written by Manami Matsumae, a Japanese composer of prestige and world renown, here shows us once again why; The pieces are harmonious and melodic wrapping (and Embonando) perfectly with the themes of the levels. The designs of the characters are of a very nice and colorful style, giving a clear emphasis on the two dimensions and the geometric figures. Although I want to refrain from giving clues or spoilers, the general appearance is vital to the history of the game, which by the way, is not as simple as it seems at the beginning. If you took the time to read this humble review, I thank you for your patience, I tried to be brief but analytical to explain how much I applaud Flat Kingdom, however I think the coldness of the numbers will be more forceful than all my words. 10/10.
