About

Lord of the Rings: War in the North is an action RPG developed by Snowblind Studios. The game is based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings series of novels.

Eradan, Andriel, and Farin arrive at the Prancing Pony tavern in a small town of Bree where they meet Aragorn. He tasks them with distracting the orcs at Fornost in order to save Frodo from an attack that is plotted against him. The trio sets out on a difficult quest.

At the beginning of every level, the player has to choose one of the three characters to play with. Each character has their own set of skills and equipment.

All three characters are able to use light and heavy attacks, block enemy attacks, sprint, and perform combat rolls. Critical strike system is also present. During singleplayer it is possible to command the player's comrades.

Online co-op mode is also present with up to three players. It is possible to swap items between the characters with each character being able to find their own set of secrets on the level which is not possible in singleplayer.

Leveling up system is also present with players being able to level up their melee attacks, long-range attacks or their defense.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North reviews and comments

I really enjoy this game both single and multiplayer.

Lord of the Rings-The War for North is an RPG in The Lord of the Rings Universe. The Game is already a bit older but on the whole very solid with a few Weaknesses that you can look past if you buy it at the right Price. What do you do in this Game: You follow a Side Story that plays between "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings." You have 3 Characters to play, A Dwarf, a Forest Ranger and an Elbin, but not the Characters from the Movies but they are Friends/other Representatives of these Races. You have to fight your way through different Areas such as Forests, Hill Graves etc, many of which you already know from the Movies and you meet many well-known Opponents such as Goblins, Undead, Trolls, ... The Combat System is not directly well refined, it resembles a Hack & Slash Combat System, but with some experience you can also develop some better Combat Tactics here and find a few Things through which it not only turns to blunt on it, but still becomes a Tactical Battle. Unfortunately, the hit calculations are very inaccurate, so sometimes you can stand in front of a Barrel and the Character just punches through without that something happens or you stand quite easily looking past an Opponent, punches and the Swords race through the Opponent without him Is hit. The Story itself is quite ok, but is partly rather moved by Conversations with pointless selections of answers and is therefore not a Masterstroke but also not a 0815 Storyline. On the whole, the Story is still quite short. The Areas are beautifully designed and in some cases objects/buildings etc are also destructible but by no means everything. Unfortunately, there are always invisible Walls or just pointless limitations we little stones that are straight Foot heights at which the Characters can no longer. Examples here are, for example, on the mound wheels, a converted 30cm high wall that prevents you from coming to the other Side, Causing you to walk outside, a collapsed Spot over which a 2-Year-old Child would come but the forest Ranger and his Companions remain Here stand, Places where the Undead who have a poor movement coordination just climb down but the companions don't even try ... Now to the Pros and Cons: Pros:-Beautiful Territories-New Storyline in an Known Universe-You meet well-known characters like Gandalf, Bilbo, Frodo, Gimli, ...-You can complete Various Dominions like combat zones with Wave Attacks. Story, MP, ...-Steam Achievements all possible, No impossible Expectations. Kontra:-combat System shows some weakening-Invisibere/Graphic Schwachsenic Walls-Story very brief conclusion: The Game is some time fun, but Is nothing in The long run. For just under €20 what it costs here in Steam, however, if you browse the Internet, you will find it again and again from just under €3-4 as Steam Key or as a CD Version which is also activated on Steam.
