About

Stronghold Crusader II is the fifth game in Stronghold series of medieval strategies. It is the direct sequel to the 2002 spin-off of the series, Stronghold: Crusader.

Background

Stronghold Crusader II is set in the Middle East in the era of Crusades. The game's two campaign modes follow the two sides in the Crusades: the Crusaders and the Muslims. The game features historical figures like Saladin and Richard of England, as well as the characters from earlier games in the series, such as Rat and Wolf.

Gameplay

The game is similar to all Stronghold games. The player assumes the role of a medieval lord who controls his castle. The player has to build the walls and towers, hire the knights and archers, and establish a productive medieval economy to support the war effort. Most missions involve a siege of a castle, with the player as the attacker, the defender, or both.

Economy

Everything in Stronghold, from the food to the war, requires the player to establish a chain of production, such as a mill and a bakery to make bread. The player has to produce armor and weapons before hiring most types of units. There's also a reputation meter that tracks what the people think of their lord. The player can increase his or her reputation by offering the people more food, lowering taxes, or building pubs and churches.

Multiplayer

Stronghold Crusader II has several multiplayer modes. It was the first game in the series to introduce a cooperative mode that allows two players to control the same castle.

Stronghold Crusader 2 reviews and comments

Good:-The Game finally has Barricades-You can heal units-You can select your Castle Lord and Color in the Multiplayer-The desert feeling is well implemented. -There are Tornadoes, Lightning and many other cool things:) Just Watch the Trailer, I can describe relatively poorly why this Game is so good:D Bad:-The Maps are boring. After about 20 Hours of Play, you know every Map, and very few of them are realistically constructed. -You can't adjust what the Country Should send you. -The Map Editor is catastrophic, relatively unserviceable for a Beginner. I know how it works, but it's just too cumbersome for me to make a relatively good Looking map. (The Editor of Sh2 was good)! -the Missions in The single Player are far too short! Boring combat range, short Missions (Yes, I know the Game now lays out more on the Multiplayer, but still a relatively decent Battle range would be nice)-Some Buildings just cost too much. e.g. a Mill 200 Wood ... 120 would have also brought. -A few Bugs in the Spie (this has to be patched on a first-come!)-I personally like the popularity system of Stronghold 3 less, you should have taken over the Popularity system of Sh or ShC. -When you build a Building next to a Castle Wall, you lose the Battlements! -relatively few Buildings you can build Concludes: If this Game is patched and made bug-free (It is patched in the way anyway) it is worth buying the Game! In Addition, a proper Map editor should finally be made. If you have played the Predecessors, you will definitely be worth the Game for you! ... Just Give it a try yourself:D

I have to say that Crusader 2 is the most undemanding and simplistic Stronghold compared to its Predecessors. Especially when Juxtaposing with Stronghold 2 and Crusader 1, the Speed of Play is like a Joke. Crusader 2 also lacks any strategic Depth. So after just a few Hours Of playing, you get the feeling that you have got the Maximum out of it. From my own Experience I can report that Players who know each other in multiplayer, Be it Stronghold Legends, Stronghold 2 or Crusader 1, will get the Bow out within a few Matches. However, a good Strategy game makes it clear that it cannot be deciphered within a very short Time. There are Also constant Crashes and annoying Bugs, some of which make Playing impossible. For example, hosts are often blocked or players are shown who are only avoidly in that host. Also, it is strongly discouraged to go to the Desktop as this can often lead to black Spots in the Game (see Screenshots). Another Point is the complete Absence of any Structures of a Community. Although I and a few others put a lot of Time and Effort into Organizing and Putting On matches at the Beginning, hardly anything has come around because there Is simply missing Players. In Summary, there is no need for intensive Microtraining or strategic Thinking in Order to play Crusader 2 in Multiplayer reasonably successfully, which is a great pity because, as I said, that is a good RTS. Even if the Multiplayer should bring Fun despite Bugs (which it does conditionally) and you deal more intensively with the Game, only a few Players will be more suitable. Thus, Stronghold Crusader 2 is a maximum of suitable for Campaign Players and cozy castle builders. However, it is not a full-fledged and serious Multiplayer Game.
