Swords and Sorcery - Underworld - Definitive Edition
About
Swords and Sorcery - Underworld is a party-based, first person view role-playing game with turn-based combat and a square grid 3D environment. The art was made by a professional comics illustrator.
Abstract yet deeply tactical combat, with distance and timing management. Your characters can evade or enter the melee, wait and take their turn a little later, hide, order the group forward or back. Many combat options will depend on positionning choices you make.
Characters will develop a variety of abilities and strengths that depend on their class. Knights, for instance, learn Ambidextria, Powerhouse and Berserk as they develop.
40 spells (Priest and Sorcerer, outdoor and indoor, combat and non-combat).
Over 100 illustrated enemies, many of which have one or two special abilities that offer varied challenges. Some, for instance will summon new enemies. Some will throw bombs, turn characters to stone or lock them in an inferno until the battle ends... If they survive that long...
250 items, many with magical or otherwise valuable properties.
Three towns to discover and travel back to for food, equipment, healing and other services offered by NPCs.
Many unique NPCs that will offer quests, help your party gain in strength, guide you or deceive you.
Traps, puzzles, slides and teleports add a variety of non-combat challenges. Puzzles are largely integrated in your interaction with the game world.
Dynamic world map illustrates 20 levels as they are discovered.
40 fullscreen story illustrations.
Find books to read that contain clues for quests and flesh out the backstory.
A bestiary allows you to collect notes on monsters containing clues for quests and indications as to how to defeat the monster described.

What a pleasure to rediscover the joys of wisardry!!!! (for my part on an Apple 2 E, it was then, sorcery, the Dungeon of the heretical Overlord). This game is a delight for the nostalgic RPG of the years 80! than the less.... 35 years old! not known, quickly I go back.
strong points: we have 6 characters!! Ah miracle!!
turn-by-turn auto mapping classes, race, spells, classic and effective monsters.

I finished it, but I do not recommend it.
As soon as the opening, the game is very very ugly! I really felt like I was getting scammed for a game at €15!
But as I'm a tough guy, I came back, and I confess that I got caught up in the might & magic-like gameplay that works fine. And I managed to finish the game!
So, we feel that it is a game made with all the best intentions of the world, but the engine of the game, the interfaces buggés, the lack of animations, the sounds laughable, make it very very ugly (I InSite)!
It's not the artist's fault that does his best, but frankly, I think if the game had been developed with Unity (or whatever), the result would have been 10 times better.
My verdict as long as this game will not be below €5, it is not worth it.
Prefer for the same price, a "legend of Grimrock 2" which is largely above.
Sorry for the devs... I imagine you have suffered a lot to get this game out, while you could have taken a simpler path for a better result.

Although this RPG seems to have come out of pre-2000 history. It is no less a Pearl.
The principle is simple: in a fantasy medieval world, you create a team of 6 characters. As you meet, you get quests that you can grasp in different ways often related to the skills available in the team.
Some will argue that the graphics are outdated and outdated.
I would simply answer them that a good story where elements intersect and interact, compensates for a simplified graphic. Besides about the graphics, I want to thank the draftsman who managed to evoke and provoke quite my reaction to the different atmospheres of each place.
The strength of this game is also that of its developer who has been able to restore the essence and update an almost "abandonware". Besides not only has he worked admirably this work but he remains available and responsive to the slightest difficulty encountered and submitted on the Forum by the players.
Thanks again for this game that allowed me to escape. Although having made the rounds of all the squares of the game in about 70h, I confess that sometimes I still can revive the game, just to wander in the universe of swords and sorcery-underworld-definitive Edition.
