Thief is a stealth-action game, the 4th installment in the Thief series and the first game since 2004 Thief: Deadly Shadows. The game was made as an attempt to reboot the franchise.
Just as previous entries, the game takes place in the dark fantasy world with notable steampunk and Victorian era influence. You play as Garrett, the master thief who awakens after one-year slumber caused by accident in one of his missions. He finds out that his hometown is plagued by a mysterious disease “The Gloom.”
The gameplay can be described as first-person stealth-action with the heavy emphasis on the variability of completing missions. Sneaking behind the enemies is usually a more effective way of performing tasks than openly fighting with them. Garrett possesses several different tools and weapons like lockpicks, prybar, etc. One of Garrett’s few weapons is bow which has 8 types of arrows and the full range of application from killing and poisoning enemies to putting out torches and distracting guards.

        Thief reviews and comments

The worse Dishonored! It's been many Years since I crammed my Pockets Into Dark Project with master Thief Garrett. There he was now, the Successor "Thief" and I pounced on him. Multiple. But so right the old Euphoria did not want to return, the Spark no longer Bounced over. In part, I almost had to play myself agonised in the Hope that there would be even more of the old Sense of Play in this Title. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Too many disturbing and annoying Things stood in my Way, which unfortunately were repeated over and over again. PROs: + Very good Atmosphere in the Main Story due to wonderful light/fire/weather effects + Completely modifiable level of Difficulty for the ultimate stealth guru + All HUD elements ab-/switchable + AI reacts really well and AGGRESSIVELY + Animals sounding the Alarm (Dogs, Birds) + Few But quite good Puzzles + Long playing Time (20h+) CONTRAs:-Little sound support and even that can annoy depending on the Situation over Time-Unclear, ugly inventory-Boring, repetive side missions-Game Forces a rare to no special Equipment to use-no Sandboxing missions like before-jumping only Possible in predetermined Places (ECHT NOW?)-... Which can't even be used by the AI-... Which, by the way, Has some fierce Dropouts-No Guards on the Rooftops-Story down to the Atmo Rarely gripping and mostly predictable-Doofe'S end-Relatively lifeless game world-guards patroulte in a Loop very short manageable 0815 Ways-Garrett doesn't need a Focus system, completely unnecessary Nonsense-Faves, not really changeable headquarters-Extremely annoying Through-niche-strawth-plus-beam-pushing-Uncapacitable Dietries-poor residents but even in the Alleys, Golden Objects lie Around ... Is clear! -Nervous Loading Times in case of Change Of area-most Senseless card ever, absolutely unusable in most Cases-Sporadic Relader Uckler-No fast trip (would at least have compensated the nerve-killing Card)-No Chapter choice at The Touch of a button, Entry Points must be To be searched again-Too powerful shadow Scurrying (Space key) FAZIT: If you don't feel deterred by all these negative Points, may risk a Glimpse. In Terms of playful Quality, however, I advise you to spend a maximum of 8-10 euros on this Title. Short Trips in the 1-2h range can certainly Entertain a little at Thief. If you Play longer, the Game with the same processes starts to get bored quickly. Despite that or maybe because I spent a few good Hours in the Game, I can't recommend it. The postive Aspects are just too few to hold you by the Bar. Prefer To crawl out the old Parts again or hope for a proper Reake/reissue etc ... Cheers, Fletcher
