UI kills the game.
Controller button mapping is horrid and overlaps text options that hide an even worse user interface.

Crashes on Win10.
Initial charme quickly fades when you realize the mech variety is limited and mirrored on enemy side with the only visual difference of the color.
Start with a commander and once the dozen missions are over switch to a new one, rinse and repeat.
Missions get extremely easy once you take over enemy bases and counter-zerg everything. The only challenging missions are those with a limited pool of mechs and no support.

Its beautiful but empty and short.
Disclaimer: I'm not a seasoned Resident Evil fan/player. This is the opinion of someone who played this as a game in its own right.
This game is more accessible to new RE players in that the Assisted mode actually assists you: you have more than one weapon at the start with lots of ammo, the enemies are easy to kill/avoid (and don't kill you instantly) and is overall forgiving if you make a mistake. This is something I wish was in the RE2 remake (you only really have the handgun for most of the game, with limited ammo, even in the assisted mode).
The game itself is straightforward and action-packed, with plenty of thrills and just the right amount of gore and grossness (though there is a gratuitous cut-scene of Jill getting deep-throated by a spider monster). It was really fun leveling up and learning more about how to beat enemies more efficiently, and once you have enough points to get the Infinite Rocket Launcher, you feel like you're on top of the world.
The game's biggest pitfalls are 1) the price tag and 2) the bosses (mainly the final one). The game is pretty short (it can be completed within 2 hours if you got the other collectibles and have a good weapon) and probably doesn't need the $80 price tag. $50 would be more reasonable. The final boss ranges from exceedingly simple to beat (from assisted mode to hard mode) to ridiculously hard in Nightmare and Inferno mode (one hit stuns you, the other hit immediately afterwards kills you). Also why the hell is there no infinite magnum gun it's much better than that flimsy handgun as the default.
Overall, I understand the criticisms, and it's not perfect, but I still had a lot of fun playing it, and Jill Valentine is an awesome enough lead to keep me playing. We'll see what happens when Capcom inevitably remakes RE4.

Wonderful succinct puzzle action. Would love a sequel please.
Fun platforming.
It's a fun game to play because it's the first Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons game. The future entries in the series are much better though.

Silent Hill 2 strives at doing everything it does in the most meticulously well thought way possible. While most survival horror games of that era tried to scare the player with superficial "creepy imagery" or gore, SH2 uses every single tool that it's media offers to enhance the experience and has a masterfully crafted atmosphere that surrounds the deepest thoughts of the players, not only by scaring them, but by introducing new ideas constantly as representations of inner guilt and burden that every character has to carry.
James Sunderland starts off as a pretty bland character, but the more we get into his mind, we start to understand the real motivations behind everything happening there. The town has this bleak and lonely feel attached to it that makes it clear that every person there has something going on to them, and their stories are as deeply developed as James', because they serve a role as big as his. While not having the best gameplay or combat ever, Silent Hill 2 is impecable at penetrating your mind and making you question it's uncertain aspects. Everything about this game is so well written and deep but it's slow way of telling you the story with sounds and visuals without needing to explain everything with expository dialogue or being too overloaded with useless information builds up the best piece of media i have ever consumed. Without a doubt, Silent Hill 2 is an work of art that should be experienced by everyone, even if not interested in the horror genre. It's a psychological study about people's motivations and the weight they carry as consequence of their actions.

Probably the best game ever made. It's filled with a LOT of nuances (that weren't even intentional) that make the game surprise you every match with something you didn't know you could do. You can play this for a lifetime and still enjoy it as if it were the first time.

By far the hardest Resident Evil game. It felt like a massive accomplishment to finish. I prefer the original game, but this is definitely the pinnacle of the fixed camera, tank control RE games in terms of its overall design. Some of the cross-dressing stuff is a little problematic but still interesting. I wish you just played as Claire the whole game, Chris isn’t that cool.
I preferred this to RE2, even though I know objectively it’s a worse game. I think I’ve realized I just prefer more linear games for whatever reason. I loved playing as Jill again, this is a really good take on the character. Again, she’s well-dressed and good at her job.
The combat is great. The level design is a little weaker than its predecessor but that’s okay. Nemesis is cool, but a little less scary than Mr. Tyrant. I think it’s just because this game is much more open, with a lot of it taking place outdoors. In RE2, Tyrant is chasing you through all these tight corridors and it feels impossible to get away. Here I felt like I could outrun Nemesis pretty much whenever I needed to.
There is a ton of Alien inspired imagery here. Especially in the final boss battle. It kind of becomes a game about sexual violence and stalking, which is strange and interesting.
I liked it a lot, up there with anything I’ve played this year.

Feels like these REmakes are in a feedback loop with The Last of Us. Resident Evil is obviously a huge influence on TLOU, and the TLOU became a huge influence on both this game. The combat feels like a really nice mix of RE4 and TLOU gunplay, but far more polished than either of those. It feels great. Maybe this game will end up influencing TLOU 2, who knows.
The puzzles are challenging and numerous. You are thrown right in and you kind of have to figure it out yourself. I love how the map continues to build on top of itself throughout the game. I know these aren’t technically Metroidvanias but it does kind of feel like one in some ways.
Both characters are fun to play as. I did Claire A Leon B, which I didn’t regret. Claire is more fun to me, but Ada was pretty cool in the Leon section.
Mr. Tyrant rocked. Such a cool design and such an intimidating enemy.
