About

Exodus Wars: Fractured Empire is a 3D turn-based strategy wargame that puts you in brigade-level control of futuristic infantry and armored companies, as well as huge super-vehicles. This is warfare on a massive scale that will appeal to those who enjoy games that provide both a strategic and tactical challenge, such as the Total War PC game series or tabletop games like Warhammer 40,000. Featuring a unique, streamlined command system for fast-paced battles with Chess-style alternating activations, customizable armies, and simple--yet deep--strategic and tactical play, the game tells a story from the Exodus Wars, a bloody civil war fought between the Guild and the Royal Empire of Man.Game Features
  • An engaging and fully realised sci-fi universe set in a period of interstellar civil war -- Play your part in the Exodus Wars.
  • The Royal Empire of Man against the Guild Legions -- Each faction has an extensive roster of units, from infantry and medium armour up to the Empire's Baron small behemoth and the Guild’s Elektra and Enforcer heavy tanks.
  • Deep strategy via army building -- What you bring to the battle is every bit as important as the tactics you employ.
  • Manoeuvre warfare -- Gameplay that rewards solid tactics.
  • Easy-to-learn, difficult to master -- The intuitive user interface enhances the game's depth and balance.
  • Chess-style, interleaving activation-based play that enables quick games -- Give your formations their orders and see these executed on the battlefield; no long waits like you find in typical "You Go, I Go" games.
  • Cover -- Use cover to reduce your opponent's effectiveness.
  • Overwatch -- Achieve superior positioning and control the battlefield.
  • Campaign play -- Play a single-player campaign titled "The Ties That Bind", which can be experienced from either the Guild or Royal Empire of Man perspective for a different view of the story's events.
  • High replayability -- Given the large array of units and the formation combinations possible via the Force Selector interface, not to mention the multiple tactical options available for inflicting your will upon your opponent, every battle offers new challenges and experiences.

Exodus Wars: Fractured Empire reviews and comments

To start off: This game has some great potential! But right now it is nowhere near it's venerable Tabletop roots, nor even near a decent strategy game. It lacks: - A good AI - A multiplayer - More than 2 Army to play/20 units - A user friendly UI - A real campaign - More then one typ of mission. It offers: - A fun and fast game for a little break - A low level entrance in the general way of a 6mm Tabletop

To be honest, this must be the second time I ever write a review about a game, but I had to do this. The game got released today but it is nowhere near completion - and kind of breaking the rules of Steam EA. The concept is very good, implementation is around 60% of what you can expect of a released game (4 types of units only per faction ? come on). The devs seems good guys, kind and helpful on the forum. So I'm sorry to say this, but your game isn't polished enough to be released, would you need money or not. 9€ seems like a more reasonable price (current discount), but still it's lacking a lot of what it should have.

Early access review at the moment, the game already has some potential. Especially at the level of gameplay where you feel a certain willingness to go out of the beaten path. The game-directly inspired from the world of board game-uses an activation/impulse system for each unit. The two camps therefore respond to the TAC even during the placement phases, which makes it very tactical and very undecided. Determining in what order your units will act is paramount and errors are paid cash. Second well-managed point: the system of cohesion/morale. In fact your units will only answer your orders if they pass a cohesion test (which is a simple dice throw). Depending on their nature (a squad of conscripts is less organized than elite infantry) and their involvement in the fighting, the units may panic, no longer respond to your orders and finally make you "lose activations". Good ideas and intentions that do not all unfortunately. In fact the game still presents some more or less annoying clumps. Firstly the interface is not perfect (especially for the management of the lines of view) and some camera angles (blocked in almost maximum zoom during the action phases) do not help to grasp what is happening on the battlefield. But let's say we get it done. Not the most annoying is the number of units at the moment and the lack of multiplayer. Two points that can be worrying in terms of diversity and replayability. However the developers are aware of and ensure that more units are released by the end of early access and add a multi mode after the release. They seem involved so we believe but remains to see what we will really have in fine... To give you a better idea of the game, here is a detailed video on the subject: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=378899945
