About

Grimmwood is a challenging co-op MMO, which seamlessly blends together elements of survival, strategy and exploration into one game.

You are plunged into the middle of a mystical forest and you will be part of a village with up to 39 other human players; all of which you have never met before. Each day at midnight the monsters will attack your village and you have to band together to organize your defenses successfully in order to survive. In the daytime you explore the depths of the forest to gather its resources or you can stay within the safety of the village to construct or repair buildings and walls in preparation for the inevitable hordes of monsters which will attack you relentlessly.
Choose wisely though on what you want to do! Every action you take costs stamina points of which you only have a limited amount of during each day cycle.

Features:• Survive, against all odds, by turning a bunch of (isolated) strangers into a close-knit fellowship.
• Explore a huge procedurally generated Forest map with 600 tiles in size!
• Asynchronous multiplayer, “Follow” mode, 24-hour day cycle
• Play with Friends – Simply join your Steam Friends in-game, with no additional hassle.
• Blitz Mode - Play a modified version of the game where a single day lasts only 15 minutes. Perfect if you want to play with just a few of your Steam Friends. Totally stream-able!
• Keep your body and your soul in check – Sanity and Conditions systems which will directly (and indirectly) affect your efficiency in everything you do.
• Strong emphasis on social interaction – In-game Chat and Forum, where all key decisions are put up for discussion.
• Permadeath, roguelike style – everything you take with you to the next Village is your knowledge and your ingenuity.
• Vote to expel Villagers who don’t contribute to the Village’s survival or simply try to ruin everybody’s experience.

The Blitz ModeIf 24 hours day cycles are too slow for you, just get together with your friends (up to 10 players can join in a Village) and smash it in the fast and furious version of Grimmwood. Voice communication is key – so come prepared!

The WorldThe village, you and your co-survivors have discovered in the depths of the Forest, seems to be hundreds of years old. It is devoid of any signs of life – nothing to even hint at what might have happened to its former inhabitants.

The VillageThe village, the survivors have discovered deep in the Forest, seems a lot older – probably even with a century. It is destitute of any signs of life – nothing to even hint on what might have happened to its former inhabitants.

The MonstersThe Forest is old and vast. There are “things” never seen by anyone… at least by no one who lived to tell the tale. The Villagers are not wanted here – they only disturb the natural order of this dark and secluded part of the world. And the Forest makes sure the villagers are reminded of this.

The Mystical ForcesA lot of the things which happen in the Forest go beyond anything the Villagers have ever experienced and constantly eludes their understanding. Resurrection, mystical artefacts, herbs and potions with amazing effects on the human body – there’s a lot to be discovered, to be examined and most likely… to be feared.

Grimmwood - They Come at Night reviews and comments

Grimmwood-They Come at Night The Game principle is great and well implemented. Through Writing Bull's Livestream I bought it right to Release and so far I didn't regret it. But some things still bother me ... Stand 18.08.2018 Pro:-always nice Communication with each other-many Objects-Drawing style-Random-generated world map-characters have a lot of Influence-Wear and tear of tools-pure tension during Fights-the "playing Together" Gets a very big Meaning Kontra:-very few Players currently (4-6 Player lightning Mode is too little)-finding the Sights is sometimes tedious, despite System-Some Players give up pretty quickly and commit Suicide:( Wishes | Ideas:-Hexagon cards with at least 2 sights instead of 1 Series-The Days could also last 10 min instead of 15 min-Updates Bugs:-1 Game crash in 21 Hours of Play (logging back in at any time) Personal Conclusion: A nice Game for Evening. If you have 2 Hours and you can't decide what to play, just turn on Grimmwood. Every helping Hand is needed:) Even if you can't get good English yourself, word Crumbs are often enough to say What you want and someone understands and helps. Tips for Newcomers:-Take only the Most important Thing on raids with-> 3 Fried food + your Tool (According to your Skills)-at Night-> 1 Bedroll (Sleeping Bag) + 1 Range Weapon (Ranged weapon) + 1 Melee Weapon (Melee weapon)-switch to Defense-> Click on your House, left on the Sign and then on "Beguarding" So, more comes to mind now. Have Fun trying Out Grimmwood. In any case, I can recommend it.

It's Basically a great pity. Grimmwood provides a thoroughly interesting Build-up that you could basically have Fun with: A Village with many Fellow Players who need to work together to survive. Get Resources, Craft, Fight and Collusion to do that as organized as possible. The Game has a Chat and even an integrated Forum. Sounds really good at first and the optical Presentation and introduction quite know how to please. Unfortunately, due to lack of Content, the Game activity is unfortunately artificially regulated by an Endurance System. It ends up boiling down to playing a maximum of one Hour a Day and waiting the Rest of The Time for stamina to settle again. A Connection to the Game can not be done in the first place-the Game becomes boring and is replaced quite quickly by Games that you can actively play. In addition, players adapt to this Rhythm; Often the only one is online, because everyone else has already consumed their Stamina. The Statement "Play as long as you want" is therefore a smooth Lie. As an Alternative, the Developers always refer to the Lightning mode, in which all Operations are extremely accelerated. But that is not a Solution to the Problem. It is only a Choice between a very boring Mode that has hardly any Game at its disposal and a very fast Mode that is tantamount to a Hoard. Better, however, would be a medium-or long-term mode that allows for more Activity spread throughout the Day. At least every 2-3 Hours, sufficient Activities should be possible again in the normal Game. If the Game has too little Content for it, that's a Problem of the Game, but not the Player. Other Games get this Balancing Act far better-even on Steam. Grimmwood is especially interesting for Players who really only want to or can spend an Hour a Day on this Concept and who Are run away from fellow Contestants in other Games. Unfortunately, the Developer's Description is misleading.
