Hobbit, The (2003) reviews and comments
An excellent platformer with action/adventure elements.
Rarely did we encounter straight corridors in this game, instead, we were often presented with challenging landscapes that required Bilbo to navigate using his trusty walking stick, which also doubled as a weapon.
The puzzles in «The Hobbit » were somewhat simplistic, catering to a younger audience, which is understandable given the overall style of the game. Combat was fairly straight forward, starting with Bilbo's stick and stones but progressing to include a magical sword and temporary upgrades for his throwing stones.
Our main focus was on searching for keys, levers, or mechanisms to lower bridges. Each completed task was noted in our journal as an achievement, earning Bilbo bravery points.
Money was also important, and silver coins were generously scattered throughout each location, often hidden in chests. Hacking into these chests involved a mini-game requiring attention and quick reflexes.
In conclusion, «The Hobbit » offers an engaging mix of platforming, combat, puzzles, and exploration, suitable for players of all ages. Its charming adaptation of the beloved tale provides an enjoyable experience for fans of the book and newcomers alike.
