About

Action adventure game inFAMOUS: Second Son is a spin-off to the original inFAMOUS series. Players take control of Delsin Rowe from the third-person perspective in the open-world environment. The story takes place in Seattle 7 years after Cole McGrath’s sacrifice and the annihilation of The Beast (the ending of inFAMOUS 2). The protagonist is a 24-year-old local from the Akomish reservation. He has a Conduit’s superpower that gives him the control of different materials. Delsin also has an extraordinary parkour skill that allows him to climb vertical surfaces. Having supernatural power, Delsin is set up against mutant hunters from Department of Unified Protection (D.U.P.) As the story progresses, Delsin comes across new Conduits and acquire new special abilities spending Blast Shards scattered throughout the map of Seattle. While completing Delsin’s story players are able to choose whether they want to follow the good branch (healing civilians and stopping unnecessary violence) or the evil branch (murdering innocents and redundant enemies).

inFAMOUS Second Son reviews and comments

It’s alright. The graphics are pretty good for an old game, except I’m finding the lighting and contrast makes it really hard to see enemies or the environment. The opening is fine. Then once the game really starts and you can start clearing out the open world map it’s better, but there aren’t enough upgrades to make it worth while. At least not without progressing the main story first. I also wish the good and evil mechanics were explained better. I don’t really understand how they work or impact my game.

So far the writing isn’t awful but I’m not really liking it either. This main character is meh.

My biggest gameplay complaint is the melee combat is very simple and doesn’t feel very “weighted”.

Okay I’m probably 75% finished, maybe even more, the brother just died, and I’m calling it. I really don’t like it very much. Nothing is egregiously bad but I don’t really think it does anything well, and I’m not having that much fun. The writing has somehow gotten worse. It’s painfully cheesy. The upgrades are too few and far between. Which is partly because of this flawed good and evil system. But my main issue is I don’t like the combat. I have three different abilities and none of them feel good. They all feel stiff to me, melee is sluggish. The shooting mechanics don’t feel great. I didn’t feel like a superhero. Traversal is not bad though.

Final Score: B

I never played any other infamous, so I don't know if this one is considered a good infamous in terms of storyline. On the other hand, I've played other sucker punch titles, and it's incredible to see how sucker punch does well the "repetitive" type of games.

Of course there's a lot of game design problems (and even technical problems), but I enjoyed so far.

The different powers are fun to play around with for a bit
Definitely not mad I played it but it just doesn't hold up compared to other first party sony games, or even to the other infamous games.
Definitely recommendable. If you're a fan of Prototype series then you will most probably going to love this game because it beats them both.

Power Ups, Stencil Arts, 4 different powers, Amazing environment, Photo Mode is on point.

«That ending!»
