Pathway reviews and comments

Actually, Pathway is just the right Game for in between. A rogue-like Game principle, the Hunt for better Loot and an entertaining Pleasure for the time and again in between. Plus the cool "Indiana Jones" Setting. Unfortunately, the Game lacks variety. So you have the Choice of 16 Characters, 2 of which you can take with you to the Expedition (if you get all the unlocked), but only their Skills are too limited that you really do with different Types ala "Jagged Alliance." There are only a Handful of Weapons and Armor Types, as well as a few Perks, which makes the Characters ' Distinction very limited. Even by Leveling Up, you don't get any real Demarcation, so the Chars seem quite interchangeable in the End. Here, additional Weapons and Skills would work Wonders. Add to That the very limited Number of Enemies. In the Game you only have to deal with "Nazis" and "Zombies or Cultists," with each Faction having only 8 different Enemy types To offer (which can still occur to varying degrees). After almost 7 Hours, these are already repeated too much-there is simply no variety in the Form of new Opponents or Bosses (which do not exist at all) or the Surprise of new Enemy types, who could perhaps bring other Abilities. Even the Maps are too generic and without Diversity. They are not random cards, but probably hand-built, so that they are also repeated very quickly and are also far too small, so that the Planning in the Form of Strategy is unfortunately very flat or completely eliminated, since the range of motion of the Figures In a Train Half card includes. The Combat System is very superficial and offers far too few Possibilities for a turn-based Combat System. Each Char can perform just one to two Special actions tied to limited Action Points-that's it. Cover is there; However, due to the small Cards in Combination with high range Of motion, the Enemies are usually bypassed and can therefore only be used rudimentary. Of course, chasing randomly generated Loot is a lot of Fun, but the alleged 400 + Events (according to Steampage) are arguably far over the top. I am now on the third of 5 Cards and the Events are constantly repeating, so that you can now just click them away uninterested. It is a great pity! Unfortunately, the Regions also consist only of the graphic Set "Desert Landscapes." Here I would have liked Jungle, Caribbean or the like for a change. Overall, Pathway is Fun, but due to the unfortunately only superficial fights and above all the low Opponent variety Combined with always the same Random events, more Fine-tuning Would have been needed here to make it a Gem like FTL. Maybe there's something on the Part of the Devs ...
