About

Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition is a role-playing game, a remake of 2000 title Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn and its expansion Throne of Bhaal.

Setting and plot

The game takes place in Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular settings in Dungeons & Dragons franchise. The game’s plot is almost identical to the original game; however, the remake adds a new character, new quests, and some new locations. The new characters from Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition also appear in this game.

Gameplay

The gameplay is based on 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. The game begins with character creation where the player can choose appearance, race, class, ability scores, and alignment. The game mostly consists of exploring the game world, interacting with NPCs, completing the quest and fighting with various enemies. The battle system in the game reconstitutes that of Dungeons and Dragons table. During the game, you can come across numerous characters that would like to join your party helping you in battles and with some quests.
The Enhanced Edition brings some new features aside from new characters, quests, and locations. The game now supports wide-screens and high resolution. The cross-platform multiplayer allows up to six players on different platforms play cooperatively.

Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition reviews and comments

A perfect sequel. Even more interesting world, quests and character options.

Sadly AD&D is still garbage...
Interesting environments, many many cool monsters and tons of cool loot.
Also very unfair and balls to the wall hard if you don't properly engage with its systems

I love this game, even today in my Eyes one of the best AND Besides Dragon Age Origions in my Opinion even with the best RPG although old Zb the graphics are heavily Dusted but that doesn't matter at that time already the Original Versions almost 20 years ago. Buying and playing means part one and 2nd In both Parts multiple passes Mastered so that my Playing Time is regularly safe in this Game alone instead of the displayed 111 std is probably around 300 The world breathes life at every Turn, the characters seem authentic and Not put on, the Quests are still remembered after Years, simply a Blueprint must look like a good RPG, Graphics is secondary if the Game exudes so much Atmosphere

A top title in Video Game History where everything is right. Enormous plenty of Equipment, Sidequests, bosses opponents and Areas to explore. The Focus of the Game, however, is character Development. There are countless Classes that can be combined or changed to human Characters. The Group around the Main Character can be assembled with in-game characters or self-created Characters. Self-created Characters can be exported and reused later. So When you've got the Game through, you can reuse your Character. And if you've played through it more often, past main Characters can also come together for a Best-Off:) For Nostalgists, AD & D fans and oh, it's suitable for anyone who likes Role-playing Games. Absolute Buy recommendation.

Purchased the game on the Mac App Store just to find that the game is not updated with the latest patches. The version that is located hr, 1.2.0 has actually NEVER been updated hr. Thanks to this, I have to live with various bugs when I play, such as characters that disappear and can never be found again, which means that several quests only have to forget if I do not want to break the utility. For some reason, we are relegated to Mac players. It seems to be clean behind the whole, according to the discussions on various forums, but possibly we get a patch around Christmas 2014 according to the scant information provided. Nice that those who have bought the game via Stream and Beamdog for the patches while we who have kpt the game via the Mac App Store has never seen the patch of a patch. Minus rating on this, especially since it damages the gaming experience for us fans who have been looking forward to EE since we first got to talk about it but must live with a nasty version of the game. So, just run this version on the Mac App Store if you can live with the bugs, otherwise you should buy it elsewhere or wait until a new version slpps.
