About

Evil stirs beneath the Spine of the World.
In the northernmost reaches of the Forgotten Realms lies the region of icy tundra known as Icewind Dale. Journey deep into the Spine of the World mountains, a harsh and unforgiving territory settled by only the hardiest folk. Encounter fearsome beasts that have learned the cunning and ferocity needed to survive among the snow-shrouded peaks. Confront an evil that schemes beneath the carven glaciers and mountainsides to wreak destruction upon the face of Faerûn. This is the world of Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition.
Originally released in 2000, Icewind Dale is a Dungeons & Dragons game set in Wizards of The Coast's legendary Forgotten Realms. This Enhanced Edition allows players to experience the epic adventure on PC, Mac and Linux, and includes a host of new features:

Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition reviews and comments

Before that, I'm not a hardcore roleplayer. I was looking for this game to get a taste of the role-playing world and had hoped for a little aha effect that did not quite set in. On the one hand, there is the story, which until now has only been captivating. It is so far (Level 1) to an expedition to a neighboring town, which finds its end. From there my default group is on its own. And right at the beginning of the game, where I would have wanted one or the other computer-controlled powerhouse. In the beginning, not much is needed to get my people done. You can revive them in a temple, but that costs you money, and that's something you do not have in the beginning. So it happened a lot to me that there was only one left and I restarted the game out of frustration. Overall, the game is not easy to play unless you've been in the genre for a while. There is a constant need to switch back and forth between the participants in the group, as everyone has different abilities, and I personally quickly lost track of who is currently taking which job. The technical side finally forced me to the task. On my MacBook Pro, Late 2013, 13 inches with Intel Iris, the game was already in the first level is no longer playable. The whole picture is too dark, you can hardly see any differences between walls and paths. Obviously a problem that exists since 2012, because already from the year I found forum entries, as I was looking for a solution in the network. Apparently, the developer does not listen, and nothing is done. It is not possible to change brightness or gamma values in the options - there simply is not! Full brightness, curtains too, and look very carefully. did not help! Sorry, but that was money for nothing! It could have been good that I could have continued to motivate myself, the game would be playable at all, but if you do not see anything :-( Finally, there would still be the fight system to mention that I find personally wrong. Meets my group on opponents, and the fight takes place in a somewhat narrow place, such as. A gang instead, then fight only a maximum of the first two of the group. The rear do not come past the front, and so my two front are doomed to the end. This was unfortunately in 80 percent of the cases so, which led to a permanent failure of my heroes. Only when there is really a lot of space, the backs on the way, and bypass the front. All in all, the game is not bad despite its nostalgic presentation, only the technical implementation is fatal. A well-known since 2012, easy to fix problem should not become an issue anymore ...
