About

Spitting the sand of Monkey Island from my mouth, I wondered if the life of a mighty pirate was all it was cracked up to be. I'd ignored recent events that should have been warning shots across the bow of my soul, from my wife's brush with death to the anti-pirate ramblings of an Australian gazillionaire. If only I'd chosen a different path, LeChuck might still be dead and the Ultimate Insult might have remained a mystery. If I'd never picked up a sword, the grog-swilling pirates of the Tri-Island Area might be unthreatened by the forces of gentrification and demonic heckfire. If only... suddenly, the hairy finger of a familiar monkey tapped me on the shoulder. It was time. Time for the biggest battle of my swashbuckling life.

Escape from Monkey Island reviews and comments

Game: Monkey Island 4, is again a Point & Click adventure From LucasArts. A Game for Beginners to Pro and for big and small. Single player: You play Guybrush Threepwood who comes back on Melee Island with his Wife Elaine. But everything changed there because they have been away for so long. A bad Journeyman now wants to be Governor there and take over the Island. Guybrush, of course, wants to help his Wife and tries to put everything right. Now, as in the previous Parts, you go in search of Items and Characters that could help you further. Items are Combined and Stuff is explored as is customary in Monkey Island. The Puzzles are mostly logical, but sometimes you just don't come up with the simplest Things. Which could then only be solved with Online Tips or try by Stump, which then caused rather Frustration. Graphic: The Graphic is ok for then, but could still have been. (Maximum Resolution 640x480) Music: The Music is Ok, and always very suitable for The Location. Control: The Controls are really ghastly, whether just with a Keyboard or just Gamepad. Pro/Contra: + Good Music + GOOD Story (but doesn't get to Part 1, 2 or 3) + XBOX 360 Gamepad works without Problems + German Voice Output and Subtitles + beautiful Cutscenes-some Puzzles somewhat illogical-no hint system (In-game Help) as in Part 1 2-very ghastly Control-Monkey Kombat-annoying Bugs-resolution not changeable-Steam overlay brings Game to the crash conclusion: It's a not really good Sequel, it doesn't reach Part 1 or 2. The Story is well told and the Characters are very beautiful and individually made as in Part 1 & 2. The Graphics style is Ok, but just doesn't fit Guybrush. It should have just Stayed 2.5D or 2D! But What has annoyed more and more often are the Moments when you should think around the Corner too often and you had to resort to a Complete Solution online. But the worst Is the Monkey Kombat (Insult fights with Monkey Sounds), where you have to make a List and the Monkeys have to write down Sounds in order to determine the respective Fighting Style and which Style beats which one. This, of course, happens on Random Principles. I have read a lot online, have also started Lists, but I have not coped with it. Maybe I'm too stupid or just too impatient, but it's just not Fun when sometimes 1000x is kind of like the wrong thing and the List starts again. I definitely can't get over Monkey Kombat and after more than 1 Hour I didn't Feel like it anymore. The Graphics are not changeable, 640x480 (although there are Mods, the graphics cause Problems and old Memory can no longer be used). But Anyone who can overlook the small Weaknesses will certainly do nothing wrong with Monkey Island 4. For £5.69, though, I find it somewhat outrageous to sell since. You will be offered 1 or 2 for £10 at Monkey Island than in this Game. My Playing Time was about 16 Hours, which was sufficient and did not feel drawn. But whether you want to spend on an unedited game 5.69, everyone needs to know for themselves. I didn't like it that way now, especially the Controls and the Monkey Kombat are the crucial Point why I can't recommend this Game any further. I would give the Game a Means if that were the case with Steam! Summary: Single player: 4/10 graphic: 5/10 Music: 7/10 Control: 2/10----------------------------rating: 5/10
