The Bard's Tale Trilogy reviews and comments

A really successful Reworking Of the first Part (at the Moment still). Even if one or the other old Bunny might not agree with me, I just think the small Changes just make sense. Be it the Automation or the nicer Graphics or the interaction Aids. Everything makes sense without taking the player too by the Hand, as most modern RPGs do today. It's a good idea for Newcomers to actually consult a PDF of the old Manual or a Playguide to understand some Things, such as where to find Healing or how the Fights work in detail. When I first came into Contact with Bard's Tale, I had to navigate my Trouble and Hardship. Maybe lags at the Age but at the Time I also played Things like Space Quest, Centurion or The Ancient Art of War on the PC And had no Problems getting through. Finally I have the Opportunity to experience this Classic (Automating and isolated on-screen explanations and a Tutorial Making possible). The graphic Reappraisal and Animations, as well as the Sound are not High End but bring the Game into the Modern age. Old Bugs have also been edited. Still, the Story is simplistic. Monster besiege City. You Hero. Fights. Was just a different Time. At that time, there was not so much Space on the Disks. For all The Old-schoolers, for whom the Approaches to the Newcomers in the Game are already too much Kita, then there is the Legacy Mode as an Option. The only Wehrmutter That remains is the Fact that other Games in a similar Style, such as Wasteland or The DSA Arkania Trilogy, would have deserved such a Treatment In my Eyes. For me, this Remake is worth every Penny and by lengths better than the last consolidated craft. I am already Looking forward to the next 2 Parts. Proposal to the Devs. Go To Wasteland 1, The SSI Gold Box Games, Dune (by Cryo) or also Transarctica. Hey, you're still going to be allowed to dream after all.

I'm one of the Players who has already played The Bard's Tale I to III in the 80s, several Times on both the C64 and the Amiga. Honestly, I didn't think Tales of the Unknown (The Bard's Tale I) could captivate me like that again about 30 Years later, but this superbly remastered game makes it possible. Where most remastered Games fail from my Point of view, the Developers of The Bard's Tale have hit just the right Nerve. They have retained the Charm of the old Game, for example by carefully updating the Graphics without losing the charm of the old Graphics. The Same applies to the (text) Role-playing and Combat System, which can actually still captivate me today. They have Usefully enriched the Game with a very good car swap function and the Ability to save anywhere. I think the Car map in particular makes perfect sense, because although I still enjoyed manually mapping the Dungeons in Pencil on Caropapier in the 80s, I could not imagine it today at all. And even with Automap, the Game is guaranteed to be "oljoolig" enough. I would like to express an extra point to the Developers for constant Communication with the Players in the Steam forums. This results, among other things, in the fact that a Beta Update has already been provided, which includes various Improvements, such as a significantly enlarged Graphics Window and also Bug Fixes. By The way, the Price of €12.49, which applies to the complete Trilogy, is more than just fair. Other developer/publishers are welcome to take this as an Example. If you expect a modern (casual) 3D Role-playing game with good Graphics and lots of comfort features, you should definitely make a big Bow around The Bard's Tale Trilogy. But If you want to experience something like a kind of Slightly modernized Journey back to the 80s, you will certainly be as happy about this lovingly developed Remaster as I am. I'm Already looking forward to the remastered Versions of Destiny Knight and Thief of Fate, and by then I'll be playing through Tales of the Unknown.
