Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 reviews and comments
«THPS» now goes online!
The novelty of this version, «THPS 3», is the online multiplayer mode. There are a total of eight modes in the game:
Graffiti:
«Tag» an obstacle or area by performing a trick. Steal others' territories by executing more successful tricks. Each player has their own color.
Trick Attack:
Skate simultaneously with other players for a set amount of time. The winner is the one with the most points for tricks.
Slap!:
Collide with other players. The faster player remains standing and earns one point. The winner is the player with the most points for «Slap!».
King of the Hill:
Find the crown hidden in the level and wear it for as long as possible. While wearing it, you skate slower, giving other players a chance to knock the crown off you. The winner is the player who wears the crown first for the specified time.
Free Skate:
Skate with other people. No winners, no losers.
Control Zones:
Two teams fight for control of one zone. Control the zone by holding the key. Dropping the key allows the other team to pick it up and gain control.
Keep Away:
Find the ball and skate with it. By performing tricks while holding the ball, you earn points for tricks. If you fall or get hit, you lose the ball. If the ball is picked up by someone else, they earn points.
Capture the Flag:
Well, you know what capture the flag is.
The online game supports up to eight skaters simultaneously, making it quite chaotic. I think talented players might really enjoy the graffiti or trick attack modes.
It made a splash at the time and many gamers spent hours competing in sessions.

Pro Skater 3 is definitely one of the best in the franchise as well, while it doesn't have the nice mechanical editions 4 and the Underground games would bring for obvious reasons. It's just really fun with pretty well put together and designed levels (maybe except for Tokyo like I HATE the middle section of Tokyo as it just feels way too busy). The goals and environmental transformation stuff all feels very welcome and keeps the levels constantly growing and changing, adding more to skate from with interesting and constantly changing goals as time goes on. Definitely one of my favorite Pro Skater's for sure.
