This is the most addicting game I've ever played, in that when I'm swinging around New York deciding what to do next, I literally. Can't. Stop. Swinging. I'll make it to my marker and my brain wants to stop but my fingers just won't allow it, I need to be swinging around this city, web-zipping to the top of water towers, dive bombing off the tallest skyscraper I can find in the vicinity, and running along the sides of buildings and quickly jumping between one and another in a slim alleyway. If Insomniac put out this game with nothing to do in the world except swinging around endlessly, I would have been very very satisfied. Lucky for us they populated the world with heaps of crimes to stop, pigeons to round up, and landmarks to take selfies in front of AND a fully-realized fantastic new Spider-Man story with a great Doc Ock origin story. Insomniacs' Peter Parker is the definitive one (I still love you Tobey Maguire, I love you so much...) and every moment he was talking I was into it. The voice acting is so good and the facial animations are incredible, mixing to make a mesmerizing, addicting, brand new Spider-Man story. And the late-game world switch up when you suddenly get all new crimes everywhere and new bases to take down and a beautiful terrifying broken New York to swing around?? God Insomniac, the world doesn't deserve this. My only complaints with the game are it's length, I platinumed the whole thing in less than 40 hours (my first platinum ever mind you, thank you Insomniac for making this pretty damn achievable), and how easy it is on normal difficulty. I never had issues with any boss fights and hardly any issues with bases, apart from the Sable ones which were actually a good challenge. I know I could have just upped the difficulty, and I will on my next playthrough, but I feel like "normal" difficulty should challenge the player a bit more. Apart from that Insomniac knocked this one out of the park.

If you haven't played this game in the past it would be a bit harder to recommend this game to you. Don't get me wrong, it's very funny in its character design, writing, it has very imaginative levels and level design sprinkled with a good story, but at the same time, it has by today's standards bad controls, finicky camera, and bad design choices. One which immediately comes to mind is when progressing through the story you come to a point where an optional item from the store is mandatory to pass through the story. So I had to exit the level and farm arrowheads through the camp so I could buy it, then get back to the level and resume the plot. There are plenty of obtuse design choices like that and there were plenty of moments there I died because of bad controls or camera angles, but this game has a heart and I can't deny that. Try it, but know what you get yourself into!
That was way too scary game for me, but the idea and the plot are definitely worth to beat this game. Absolutely mind-blowing.

A very welcome addition to the 'Games That Are Going To Absolutely Obliterate Every Well Crafted Plan You Have To the Point Where Just Growing Some Peaches Makes You Feel Like You Accomplished Something' genre.

SNK has been around for 40 years now and their names has been synonymous with titles like King of Fighters, Metal Slug, Ikari Warriors, Samurai Showdown, Shock Troopers and more.
The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection however features games that are older than the Neo Geo System that made the company famous. With 13 games offered on the Switch Card and 11 games coming as DLC later, the bundle is a decent package of classic games offering a lot of different games for everyone who were curious about the other games that company had.
The collection itself does feature some solid hits, including Athena - a sidescrolling action adventure where you play the title character (and later KOF/SNK Heroine fighter) through a mystical land, Ikari Warriors 1, 2, and 3 - which can be considered one of the best retro-top-down shooters, and Prehistoric Isle - a strange 2D Shoot'em up that includes Dinosaurs.
Each games plays smoothly thanks to improved graphic resolution, and redesigned control schemes which give players a bit of ease when it comes to twin-stick shooters - which I feel the collection has a lot of. But what really caught my eye when going through the titles is the ability to choose from the Arcade or Console Port of specific games.
It's important to note the difference between these, as the arcade generally had better graphics - they were also made to take as much money from you as possible, so the arcade versions are noticeably harder from the console port (which most are from the NES era.)
The Collection also features a rewind option that allows players to, well, rewind the last few seconds of the game, and an interesting 'Watch' feature which gives players the ability to watch a too-assisted perfect run of each game. The Watch feature also gives players the ability to jump right in seamlessly at any point and time in the game.
There were some issues that I've ran into when it came to enjoying these classics was the lack of single Joy-con Support on most titles. These games did make some sense as of why it was not available, as most were Twin-Stick Shooters, which consists of a large chunk of the games in the collection.
That being said, NIS America has stated that there is a planned Day 1 update for when the game launches that will correct this, allowing a single stick mode for twin-stick games. It also helps to know that there is 11 more games to come as a free update on December 11th, with two of them being part of a free download on the Nintendo eShop.
Giving plenty of options and different games to play. Still it feels weird knowing that the heavy hitters like King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and Metal Slug, despite already having their time in the light with various re-releases on other consoles, are missing from this collection.
To put it bluntly, The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection isn't for everyone. While for a collection based game, the technical features are fun to play with, and I personally love the option to play the original Arcade or Console release of the game, but the selection of games are questionable due to a lack in variety and heavy hitting titles that makes us think "SNK."

I love cRPG's I grew up playing Fallout, Arcanum, Baldurs Gate and so on, so I was in love that this genre got a second life with games like Divinity, Pillars of Eternity, Shadowrun and boy oh boy I was happy to hear about this one. A spiritual sequel to one of the best RPG's of all time, how could you go wrong? Well, you could!
It will be a short as no one reads long reviews, including me. The main issue with Torment that it's a bad game, it's well written, but it's a bad game. Fighting is bad, the tutorial is atrocious, graphics not appealing to the eye, menus are bland and grey and clunky and the game has overall cheap feel to it, I know it was a kickstarted game, but when you compare it to the Pillars of Eternity, other game which was kickstarted it's like a night and day in all departments. I can go on and on about how bad it is (the lack of items in an rpg game), the lack of actual gameplay ( after 5h I had 5minutes of fights, other than that was going from one NPC to another and reading) but my main gripe with the game is how bad it is presenting himself to a newcomers. It doesn't teach you anything, I am not speaking about handholding, but there is a way to teach about the game, it's mechanics, the intricacies of skills and stats in clever and interesting ways, but instead, they were lazy.
There are people who like this game and it's ok, as I said the game is very well written (but even then, it throws so many lore and text at your face that you feel overwhelmed) and the world itself is interesting, but this one fails as a game and for that reason I stoped playing it after 5h of playtime and it was a first RPG I haven't finished.

L.A. Noire, an almost open world game set in the year 1947 puts you in the role of a police officer in the LAPD. You are tasked with solving crimes by searching locations, finding clues, interrogating people and using your powers of deduction to make sense of what actually happened to ultimately find and arrest the perpetrator/s. It involves a lot of driving, either to get to locations or in pursuit of people fleeing by car. Apart from that, you also have to chase people on foot and sometimes just shoot it out, however the emphasis of the game is very much on the detective part - the shootouts are just easy action intermezzos. There are a couple of side missions and some collectible items strewn across the large accessible map. Usually, these ingredients, especially when the game is made by Rockstar, will lead to an easy blockbuster hit.
However, the game does have its ups and downs. The driving is enjoyable because it is in my opinion more difficult than in GTA - to really handle you car well, you need to combine braking and the handbrake efficiently when going around a corner. The town is beautifully designed and there is a lot to discover - but it feels like most of it is not used in cases or side missions. The soundtrack will annoying if you're not into that era's music, which I am not, but if you like movies from that period, you will find yourself right at home in the surroundings.
The centerpiece of the game of course is solving cases and most of this is done interviewing people and guessing from their answer, their mimics and the clues you have found whether they are saying the truth or whether they are lying and if so, whether you can prove that with some clue. I often found this annoyingly difficult and once you make a mistake, you have to restart from a checkpoint long before and replay all the stuff until the interrogation to get another shot. Thus, replayability is not a strength of this game.
I recommend this game especially if you have some historic interest in the time the game plays in and if you like a hard detective game. Otherwise, give it a try but expect that it might not be for you.
Sure, it isn't actually all that great - mostly because every technical aspect is incredibly rough around the edges - but if you'd watch a cheesy half-assed Lovecraftish movie even if you knew it wasn't great you'd probably play this game too.
The gimmick of building your own guns is really good, but the execution - as well as the very basic and sometimes overly cluttered 'bullet hell' shooting mechanics - feels janky and underbaked. The lack of evolution in the gameplay doesn't help either.
