About

X-COM: Apocalypse is a strategy game that supports both a real-time and turn-based playthrough. It’s the final part of the classic UFO trilogy within the X-COM series. The story is set in the future, in the last city on Earth, Megaprime. Additionally to its inner problems with different factions that try to take control over the city, Megaprime is attacked by aliens. Here X-COM soldiers join the game to protect citizens.

The gameplay is focused on base building and technology development. You also train and upgrade your soldiers. The game consists of several linear missions: you get a signal about aliens’ spacecraft, you shoot it down and kill all the enemies. Another sphere of your interest is the city: you need to find allies and strengthen your authority among people. However, there’s a lack of realistic economics in the game, so you can perform illegal actions without any effect on the story.

X-COM: Apocalypse reviews and comments

To quote Steffen, Apocalypse is a PC game of the 1997 X-COM series. The content of the Game is to avert the Doomsday In the Form of an alien invasion. To do this, the Player is assigned the Management of a special Organization, the X-COM. He needs to buy Up buildings and expand them into Bases, hire Scientists and Soldiers, explore Artifacts, produce Equipment. The Game begins as a pure Defensive Battle in the City's Schools, Waterworks and Car Factories. Sometimes it manages to shoot down a UFO, but even a Wreck still defend the Aliens to the last Man. Later, after sufficient Research, it becomes possible to penetrate into the strange Home World of the Attackers and to get to the Root of the evil. Typical of the whole X-COM series is the high Resolution of the Battles, which reaches down to every Step, every Eight-turn, every MG cartridge. Presumably Apocalypse, With its involuntarily dreary narrative, bone-colored Aliens and collection of lovingly crafted tailfin vehicles, is the cheepest of all X COM games.

The most ambitious Title in the XCOM series, which is Sure to be the most ambitious. Multi-layered Gameplay, the Attempt at a simulated City as a setting. The Game didn't even age as badly as it seems mag-no, it looked really nauseous as early as 1997. Bad Graphics, even worse user Interface. Even more Micromanagement and the Commander would probably have to change the light bulbs in the Stairwell of the Base itself. The atmospheric Intro Still captivates me. The Game challenges You and Punishes You harshly if You become careless. You avoid the hellish Intercept attempts Against too strong UFOs? Then You may be missing later in the research Tree of Ship Type 5, which You unfortunately never shot down and Research and all Game are stuck in a hopeless Dead End. You mean not every Alarm has to be Cause for immediate Deployment because three-quarters of the Crew from the last two is literally still half-dead and Nanotech hasn't been supplying drugs for Days and Megapol hasn't been supplying Any Pieces of Armor for days? The 20 Or so factions in the City become rebellious when they get the Impression that You are letting them down. You can build a Network of Bases, manage them, explore your Opponent, repel Attacks on your own Bases, and protect the City from UFO attacks and alien infiltration. The Game will demand a lot from you, especially Patience and Nerves. I now suppose most Of the soldiers in the Game perish through Explosives. At Times, during frenzied Firefights, I doubt whether I lose more Soldiers through Enemy Fire or ' friendly fire ' from the back Rows. Questions about Questions. Until the Alien dimension I had once fought my way, after Weeks of futile effort I was in a Dead end there. At The Moment I am making a new Attempt TO beat XCOM Apocalypse.
