I'd say skip and watch this video instead because it covers pretty much the little good things this game has (combat, characters, funny lines), that get easily outshined by the rest bad stuff (plot, ending, the whole gameplay itself...).

Watch a YouTube video about it and don't even bother trying to play this, it'll be more fun that way.

(note: played this as part of the trilogy package; I'm reviewing each game individually as I go along)

The middle part drags a bit and the bonus episode made me really miss Maya Fey but the episodes solving Mia's murder and Edgeworth's past were REALLY great. Not sure if I'll play more of Ace Attorney but I'm glad I got to experience what made the game so renowned.
I'm not a fan of shooters or procedural generation so I put this one off for a long while. While the game was really fun to play, and put forth a nice challenge, it's hampered by a few weak points. Thankfully multiplayer wasn't one of them as I enjoyed it solo. There were two big problems for me. Gear and weapons are extremely limited. I ended up playing through with the default weapons and armor because what (rarely) came along was pretty boring IMO. The bigger problem is the procedural generation. It does nothing but severely limit good level design. There wasn't a single time here where I was wowed by what I was exploring. Quite the opposite, I frequently found myself realizing I've already seen these exact dungeon sections. But what about replayability? Lack of procedurally generated levels certainly hasn't diminished Dark Souls' replayability.

Recommendation: If you like a Souls-like-type challenge then it's worth a play!
Decent little platformer. More of an exploration game than anything else. Movement looks really cool and, hilariously, controlling the humans is terrible. Suffers from not having a map of some sort, getting lost and back-tracking is not fun at all.

Recommendation: It doesn't outstay its welcome, thankfully. How much do you like the genre? Give it a go, or not.
It's the bar for platforming games. There has been stuff that looks prettier and is smoother, but you have to respect SMB3 because those other games probably never would have existed without it. For the most part its fun and breezy, a relaxing game with a moderate amount of challenge towards the end. As a person who played it constantly as a kid, booting it up is like a warm hug of nostalgia. There's not a bad word to say about it, and it still holds up decades later. It's going to be one of those games that I regularly pop in my entire life.

I can see this is a very good game, but most of the time while playing I kept thinking what an exceptionally good game Bloodborne is. Playing Bloodborne I never felt cheated or anything, but with Sekiro I felt screwed over time and time again and the game somehow seems less polished. It definitely is very pretty and when you get the combat down it feels quite satisfying, but I'm at the final boss now and I think I'm gonna quit. I've defeated a lot of tough bosses and I'm satisfied. Maybe I'll try in a little while.

Try the game (it IS good!), but borrow it from someone, make sure you can refund or buy at a discount, because odds are it's not your thing.

I’m editing this a couple of months later, after I’d restarted my playthrough and just finished the game for the first time.
Most of what I said still stands, though I view the game in a more positive light. It is a very, very good game! I like it a lot better than Dark Souls 3 (which I do like!), but not as much as Bloodborne, but I do find Sekiro to be overall a more frustrating experience than the other two games.

Journal Style Review of the initial release:

Kind of a fun start but the main story finishing after like 40 minutes was way shorter than I thought it would be. I though we would have at least 4 hours. This game is much earlier than I thought it was going to be. Kind of has a fun feel to it though. The aesthetic is enjoyable. The shrunken backyard idea is weirdly fun. I’m going to keep playing this for a bit until I’ve seen a bit more of what it has to offer....but I don’t think I’m going to end up playing this very long.

...And the next day I only played another hour before I got bored. There just isn’t enough direction or content for me at this point. I think the game looks fun. I like the aesthetic, I don’t mind the feel to it (pretty simple but responsive enough), and the crafting and analyzing seems like it’s done well enough, but I need quests. I need an objective, a reason to go explore places. In the current game preview state it’s just a sandbox where you can fight some bugs and make bug armor. That is fun for some people but I’m not creative enough for that. If they add story quests I’d jump back in but for now this game isn’t for me.

Full Release:

Full game is out. I started over form the beginning to get the hang of it. I like the start. It’s a fun concept and setting.

Meh I played it again for an afternoon but it’s not for me. The idea is cool but in practise the combat isn’t very good. The respawn system can be annoying and there’s too much running back to where you dies last. It’s not for me.

Final Score: B

One of the most mind-blowing video game experiences of my life. On an Index this game looks and plays like it's 5+ years ahead of it's time.

Sekiro Shadow Die A LOT is one of the best gaming experiences I have had till date, it easily reaches my top 5 of most satisfying games.
The combat is hands down fluid responsive and perfect ,you truly feel like a true shinobi fighting against everything , master the parry and enjoy the journey .

Really fun game. Feel like the infrastructure around the game holds it back as a whole. The menu feels incomplete, and playing with friends can be difficult. Once you get past these simple things though, it can be a really fun time. Team games suck.

Giving this an exceptional because for a fan made game/mod this is REALLY good. The amount of detail in the environments and the real challenge the puzzles present goes above and beyond what I'd expect for a non-canonical Portal game. All it needed was GLaDOS's sassy dialogue.

This game was free this year with Playstation plus. I think it's a okayish game, mostly for trophy hunters. I didn't got warm with the control, didn't like the idea either to play the game with the touchpad. Besides the trophies the game isn't that interesting, but you can complete one run in around 1,5 to 2 hours. I think I made seven or eight story runs for the platinum, when you have time and maybe something to watch besides that it's like a said okayish.

I would give it 3 stars.
