Man, I don't even know. I only played this because I'm a huge fan of their other two games and looking forward to Hades. But this was really a miss. Everything about it felt like Supergiant sniffing their own farts. Much longer more jukebox-y sound track, overly explanatory lore dumps, complicated gameplay systems that don't really do much for the plot, drawn-out opening and end sequences, huge amount of unnecessary "hard mode" additions, way too much backtracking over and empty world. I can't really imagine playing this as anything other than a Supergiant superfan and even then, why bother when their other games stand on their own so much more? At least this really solidified Supergiant as one of the best studios doing the "apocalypse as metaphor for cycles of pain" that IMO outshines From Software by a mile, but they've proven they can do it better in Bastion, Transistor, and next hopefully Hades.
Wish there was a bit more in terms of secrets. That is, lightsaber colors are found very late game and NG+ only unlock one more lightsaber color and one more outfit. I played this in the second hardest difficulty and IMO it's everything I wish every other Souls game was - actually make that world design purposeful. Fallen Order is one of the best 3D Metroidvanias because of it and shows how to properly do a 3D Metroidvania. Only thing I expected from a Star Wars lore perspective, save "realistic" lightsaber physics, is more clone troopers.
Lots of directions they could take a sequel, which I'm looking forward to. More fighting styles, new force powers, actual dual-wielding, new playable characters, other types of lightsaber from the EU, more optional boss fights. They went pretty ham and I'm hoping they take it up another level.

Played in the recent Z/ZX Legacy Collection. Though I can't honestly imagine playing it any other way at this point, it does reveal a lot of the problems that you wouldn't otherwise notice playing this in short bursts on a GBA. This game is both short and hard. But, with the collection, they added a casual mode (didn't play) and a save assist mode - basically built-in save states/checkpoints - which are frankly a godsend. It's a hard game with limited lives and that kinda really sucks. They did build in an action RPG system with the cyber-elves and while I don't mind getting a lower "rank" for using them, they're SO fucking grindy. Not only does grinding upgrades take away the sense of discovery from finding a secret health upgrade, knockback reduction, or subtank, but with such a short game and limited areas to explore, the grind is just bad. The levels are cool, the weapons have some good variety, and other than the elephant that requires pixel-perfect jumping in the very early game, the bosses are great all the way through. Unfortunately, it's let down by the necessity for grinding that is at least somewhat alleviated by playing it in a modern collection.
Better with a friend. This game captures the best bits of the brawler genre with beautiful hand drawn art. Loved it!

Stunning gameplay, design, art, and vibe. It is very difficult and demands time to master. While a tad on the long side, it is a truly awesome example of a small studio delivering a meaty and beautiful indie Metroidvania experience.

Awesome humor and its always a fun time to have a narrative experience in a Mario game. The locations and world were extremely well made and look beautiful. The battle system was interesting but repetitive and the game was overly long.

Pro Skater 3 is definitely one of the best in the franchise as well, while it doesn't have the nice mechanical editions 4 and the Underground games would bring for obvious reasons. It's just really fun with pretty well put together and designed levels (maybe except for Tokyo like I HATE the middle section of Tokyo as it just feels way too busy). The goals and environmental transformation stuff all feels very welcome and keeps the levels constantly growing and changing, adding more to skate from with interesting and constantly changing goals as time goes on. Definitely one of my favorite Pro Skater's for sure.

Masterpiece in animation and an incredibly moving story. One of the best games I’ve ever played, and one of the best sequels in any form of media.
EDIT: played it again. Utter perfection. Do yourself a favor, go back and play the resort level on infinite crafting and ammo. Did it after new game +. Hilariously fun blasting everyone with bomb arrows after grinding for supplies the whole game through. Plus, zero guilt for annihilating the Rattlers.

Too early-accessy for now. Singleplayer is in fact a local server host (as usual in this type of games), it's a pain in the ass to actually host it, the community is pretty much non-existent as of 09.21.20. The optimization sucks. Gotta wait for further patches, skip for now.

Nothing new from Far Cry 3, the story is too long and not so cool. But playing it in 2020, it was cool to remember some things from Far Cry 3. At 50% progress i just wanted to finish it ASAP...

I really enjoyed this game. Often times I step away from big franchises that I'm working my way through to play a standalone game for a breath of fresh air. This remains one of the most remarkable standalone games I've ever played. Although some of the messages may be delivered less gracefully than others of its ilk. It uses the medium of videogames and your preconceived notions of the genre to take you further and further down a loop of logic and reasoning that unwinds as the story does. It will change how you see Modern Warfare forever. And when it does do setpieces, It does them really well. But the ending. Damn that's some good shit.

Although I haven't played the original game and instead skipped to the enhanced port, I can say this is a surprise for me, it's a genuinely fun game.

Nathan Drake's conclusion to a generation spanning saga is a masterstroke by Naughty Dog's writers. Although a bit too heavy handed on story moments and unwilling to give the player space to really max out it's incredible gameplay. It is still a heartfelt original experience that writes new aspects to old characters yet remembers the charm that made us fall in love with them in the first place. A perfectly paced albeit unbalanced experience that gives us the conclusion we needed to say goodbye to a beloved character.

An exceptional experience. Up there with Uncharted 2 as one of the most perfectly paced game's ever made. Not only does it understand it strengths but it finds new unexplored avenues in an FPS genre that is crammed with little room to breathe. Instead Titanfall 2 cuts out a little uninhabited slice and THRIVES. A fantastic 6 hour campaign that is equal parts explosive and intriguing, The story stands tall on the shoulders of it's 2 leads BT-7274 and Jack Cooper and the story of them becoming better partners and developing a cinematic synergy is better than whatever typical plot the game comes up with. Get this game if you enjoy fast paced shooters that constantly reinvent themselves and keep you locked in til the credits role.

Trumps Dark Souls in every way. Doesn't frontload itself with confusing RPG mechanics and remains a more accessible slimmer experience because of it. Contains a magical sense of adventure that few games can capture and has a haunting tone that isn't suffocating but looms over the player akin to Resident Evil 4. It has fantastic boss battles and an incredible combat system that draws the player in with seemingly easy mechanics that infact require careful footwork and a trained eye to master. It is one of the most satisfying games for improvement. As the player slowly becomes more confident and becomes more aggressive and eventually by the finale you are a stoic hunter that parries and dodges effortlessly and capitalises on every miss of an enemy with devestating combos learned over the course of the game. Finally the lore constantly ambushes the player with deep story threads that are rabbit holes of character biographies and make for satisfying post game content as you understand each character before chaining it all together with a 30 minute complete lore video on Youtube.

The best roguelike ever made. Completely confident and fun and it somehow found a way to approach the roguelike genre with more than a one-note story. It's a game that pushes me to keep attempting to escape from hell and then rewarding me even for the most pitiful attempts with permanent upgrades and new story events and character moments. And everytime you hurl yourself out the window with weapon in hand you learn a little more and never feel unrewarded for your time.
The first 10 hours were some of the most magical moments in my time with gaming.
The first videogame I ever played.. Despite giving me horrific nightmares over the course of my childhood, This pivotal part in my early development intrigued me til I was allowed to go near it. And when I did I discovered a game dripping with atmosphere in an oppressively suffocating world that dares you to push forward with a narrative of a weakling slave rising up through sheer will to take down his races oppressors. The cinematic quality is incredible and there is a reason it is one of the most respected franchises in gaming history.
Everyone will tell you about the pounding soundtrack and the heart pounding gameplay. But few will talk of the subtle masterful story that is told in such a bold cryptic way and changes the way you interpret subsequent playthroughs.
