Rented this one from Redbox. To say this game is a mess would be an understatement

I played dark souls 2 on coop in cold lake Alberta when I wasn’t gaming a lot at all. This game was the first push that made me think about buying an Xbox one. Dark Souls 2 was difficult and challenging as everyone knows, but also a ton of fun because I felt like I couldn’t stop playing. I had never played this sort of game before. While they can be exhausting they are also right up there for most satisfying.

There is a reason that skyrim has lasted so long and people still play it on every system imaginable. It’s because it’s a lot of fun. It does a fantastic job with the rpg mechanics. There are a bunch of different ways to play and you have to pick and choose what you want to specialize in.

10/10 - The perfect time killer, started my roguelike/lite obsession. I am in love with the art style. Completed on PS4, Vita, Mobile. (Currently maxing out PC)

7/10 - Currently my go-to MP shooter. Scratches that Nuketown itch pretty well. (I do not have money for Modern Warfare lol)
I am so surprised at how much fun I had with this game. This is a great couch drinking/smoking game. The course creator lets other people make some ridiculous courses that are quite fun. There are enough ways to tweak your shot that it really does take awhile to get great so that added to the longevity.

6/10 - I had fun with the MP when it came out. A decent time-killer if you got friends, or want to banter with random teenagers swearing at you.
7/10 - This was my first CoD campaign, years ago.
«Time-tested»
«Better with friends»
8/10 - A well deserved improvement on the original, just as (if not more) comfy and fun.

7/10 - A cute and comfy time
Only RTS i could get into, unfortunately made by EA that deleted the game because it wasnt bringing them enough profit as an f2p model. Fans have been trying to remake this game again for years.
So much fun collecting cards, upgrading them and playing against or with your friends.

I began playing it and it was sooo boring, and very long introduction text, so i stopped playing it

Okay there are so many good things about this game and one minor negative. First the good.
The map traversal is easily the best that’s ever been done. Just swinging around the map is fun for so long. I never do collectables in games. I do challenges but not collectables because I don’t think they are fun just finding hidden areas by aimlessly walking around. But in Spider-Man because the web slinging is so damn good I found every one just so that I could swing around for a bit longer. I completed every challenge in this game except the normal street crime because it takes too long to come up. The combat and unexpected stealth aspect is so good as well. The suits are cool in concept and there are some good ones but one minor complaint is that more than half are pretty dumb. Which leads to the other side of the complaint which is that the story isn’t great and there are not enough epic boss fights. Instead it has some non spider parts that aren’t horrible but they are worse than every other part of the game. So it’s always a low point. It needed one more Boss fight at least and probably 2. The only reason that Batman Arkham Knight is better than this Spider-Man is because the story and atmosphere is much better than Spider-Man. Everything else is pretty close. Spider-Man is absolutely a top tier game.

This multiplayer felt good. They really did go back to what they were good at and it’s been a long enough break for me that I really liked it. Also this game had the best gunsounds that I think I’ve ever heard. I like the customization the multiplayer had and the way they implemented it. It felt like constant progression that mattered but didn’t give a hugely unfair advantage. Also there is a lot of different game modes. Gun fight was a great addition and ground war is a great addition.
Then we go to the Campaign which I think was even better. It’s the best shooter campaign since doom. And because of time and general progress I think it’s even better (doom eternal though let’s see). There were so many moments in this campaign that shocked me. So many mission had a unique feel to them. As with the multiplayer the campaign looks and sounds so good. The ending to the campaign was a bit anticlimactic but over all it was very very fun.
Update: they added a BR mode and it’s really good. They made it unique enough from other BR game modes and I like the changes they made. This BR mode is well done and is just more quality content in this already content filled game. The gulag is a great addition. The contracts and money, and buying people back is a great addition. I like that you can make loadouts. I think this is a really fun BR mode.
Update Again: My oh my do I like Warzone and also gunfight. This game has been a fantastic self isolation helper. I’m having a blast playing the BR mode. When you get in an intense fight especially near the end it is so much fun. This BR game is more of a journey than the others if that makes sense. The amount of time I’ve spent playing this COD is ramping way up but it’s still remaining fun. This game is a high A.
Update Another Time: I continue to play Warzone and enjoy my time playing it even as the hours rack up past 2 days in warzone alone. I have 8 wins at this point and every one feels different but all were incredibly intense and exhilarating. The sniping that you can do in warzone is some of the best sniping there is. This game is promoted to an A+. It has maintained such a high level of entertainment for so long. One of my favourite multiplayer experiences of this generation.
Update continued: I love this game. I fucking love it.
I can’t believe I have more updates: Win count is at 22. Each new win is still invigorating. Play time is huge. Over 4 days in warzone. This is my most played multiplayer game in quite awhile. Maybe even the most played of this generation? Fortnite might have more hours. But this is either first or second. Circumstance has definitely played a factor in the huge amount of hours I have logged in this game. Ie, Quarantine and the fact that friends play it so I get the social aspect. But the game has still maintained this level of enjoyment for a ridiculous amount of time and that needs to be noted. Well done game, well done. You have fully redeemed yourself COD. I’m back on board even after that fucked up WWII game.
I jumped back on for the Halloween event. It was awesome. First game I got 8 kills. Lots of fun. It reminded me how good this game is. The zombies addition is a great idea to keep it fresh.
I played another handful of zombie rounds and it is a fun new twist. It’s a lot of action since the map is so small and the zombies truly add a nice new spin. I don’t plan to play much more of it but I have enjoyed my time jumping back in. Fantastic game.
I’ve kept playing this zombie mode. Its had more longevity than I expected. The play style is unique. A lot more hunkering down but it’s still action packed because the extra zombies and the small map. I love trying to fight my way back as a zombie also. Finding a lone human and getting him when he is trapped in close quarters or sneaking up on him is a great way to get back in the game.
I’ve played a lot during this 2 week zombies period. I really like the game. And I just got my first win. I did it essentially solo. I had 19 kills and my teammates had 2 and 0... so that’s a solo win. Pretty fucking epic.
I’ve jumped on again for a little bit. The game is unreal. I just had to say it one more time. It’s the greatest. So so good.
Campaign Replay:
I’m replaying the campaign on the Series X because I remember liking it so much.
Really solid campaign. It does a great job of making every mission feel unique and memorable. It’s tight and action packed. It feels great, looks great, and sounds great. The story is a good blockbuster that sets up great missions and has so many jaw dropping moments. The characters are solid. I was very impressed playing through it again. Especially after playing Cold War. This campaign is soooo much better than cold wars. Way more fun.

Gears 5 pulls it off for me. I think it has the best multiplayer that any gears has had with the exception of the first one. The first is still the best but this one is second best. Also this campaign was better than the 4th. I liked the direction they tried to go. I think they could do that again but add a lot more to it, like you could make it more open world free roam and make it like a mini rpg. That would be unreal.
Visually this game is right up near the top. It’s amazing what games look like these days and gears has always looked quite good.
Hivebusters on the XSX:
Free campaign DLC this late after release is a nice developer move. The graphics look unreal. This island is very cool and does a great job showing how amazing this game looks. Gameplay is more of the same but gears combat is always fun and the set piece action sequences were not bad. The story and characters were fun. Nothing superb but pretty good. For a free dlc this was better than I thought it would be. The final bird fight was pretty good too. Cool bird.

Original Review:
These games hold up very well and playing them all in different orders is a great way to play it. I put a ton of hours into this multiplayer and I also beat every campaign again. The early campaigns were better than the new ones. I don’t even know what else to say about halo. It was the best when it came out. It’s still really fun to this day.
Pre Halo Infinite Series X Replays:
Muliplayer:
Still got it! As in halo still feels good and I’m still a boss. Nostalgia plays a factor for sure but the fact that I can still play all these old multiplayer games and they still feel so crisp and fun is impressive. God I hope Infinite is good. I’m so ready for some quality modern Halo.
Ive been playing halo 3 the most this time around. It is for sure the best halo for its time. Im convinced of that.
Campaigns coop replays:
Halo Reach:
I don’t remember this campaign at all. Think I’ve only ever played it once. I felt little nostalgia but it was the first campaign we played so there was no exhaustion either. Not bad. Not too long. An alright start. I still think the gunplay in reach feels off compared to the others.
Halo Combat Evolved:
This game gives me huge nostalgia. Strong opening. The game still feels good. I love switching between the original and the updated game.
CE is great. The missions are challenging but fun. They have a solid arcadey feel to them.
I love the flood missions. They are my favourite so far. The shotgun feels great.
Finished. Pretty fun campaign. The nostalgia was great, but I was also impressed with the campaign design. It is pretty solid and has some memorable missions. The flood are a great enemy. The final mission is a fun way to end it. I will say it’s probably an hour too long. If a couple of the missions were shortened up a bit it would be improved. Still this campaign will place upper half I think.
Halo 2 Anniversary:
They did such a good job remaking these cutscenes. I can’t tell if they have re done them again to bump them up to 4K? They must have because they look so good. The opening cutscene is so good in this one. The opening mission is pretty solid too. The bomb cutscene was so cool. Really makes chief a bigger badass in this one.
Okay CE was fun but this is way better. They make so many improvements in this game. And with the remade cutscenes everything looks so good. The story is more fun to. A big jump. Great campaign. If I’m guessing right now, I’d say halo 2 is going to be my favourite.
Once again I’ll say it. These cutscenes are so well done. I’m enjoying them a lot. K that’s the last time.
Duel wielding was awesome. This sword is awesome too. High jacking vehicles is great. They really figured out what they wanted to do in this one.
Finished. Loved it. Very fun
Halo 3:
The start is a bit generic storyline wise and environment wise for the first 3 missions. But the large scale open combat is pretty fun. Not a bad start.
The flood ship was pretty sweet.
Im enjoying the vehicle missions a lot. Halo 3 has a much larger scale to it than H2. Its a nice addition. Killing scarabs was quite fun. I think H2 still has a cooler story overall, which is a bit unfair since the remade cutscenes draw me in so much more, but still. Fortunately H3 adds to the gameplay and scope in a very effective way.
The final two missions to H3 are so fun. Probably the best enemies and gameplay so far in the series. I could go without the chief cortana love interest. I’m not a big fan of that. But the other stuff was super cool. Overall great campaign. Barely lower than H2 which is only higher because I really enjoyed the remake and the story.
Halo 4:
The opening mission and cutscene is great. Strong start. And I like the way H4 feels. So I may actually really like this if the story is at least serviceable. I don’t need a full on chief and cortana thing though. And the first cutscene with promethians I still think looked dumb.
Next three promethian missions were all pretty fun. The environments have been really cool. The game looks nice. The didact guy looks kind of funny. But a lot of other stuff looks cool.
The story isn’t as good in this one. It’s not bad. But I don’t like it as much. I don’t like the vibe to it. The middle act of campaign was so-so. A few less interesting missions.
Beat it. It’s fun but the second half isn’t as good as the first. It’s worse than CE. Still I enjoyed it though. The final mission and cutscene is pretty good. The didact is dumb though.
Halo 5:
Yes I know halo 5 isn’t in the MCC but I’m ranking it here so I’m talking about it here.
Ive grown to love the feel of H5. The modern additions work for me. The new guns are generally improved as well. They definitely improved the promethean weapons. First couple missions are fun but generic. Which is okay because the new guns and environment are enough to keep it fresh at the start. The first couple cutscenes are also not bad, but sort of generic also.
Played with Hayden as well and on legendary it was very difficult but very fun. The game feels good and the enemies feel better in this campaign, but the story is dumb, and the cutscenes are dumb. Hayden put it best. It’s like they made it into an anime. It’s not what I want. Fun to play though. A great experience still.
Finished it. The campaign style I’d say gets a bit repetitive but the gunfights on legendary with two others was pretty great still. I think the story is pretty dumb. The guardians bullshit isn’t good. This one is hard to rank appropriately because I definitely enjoyed it more playing with 3 people. I’m putting it above halo 4 because the firefights were better.
This experience of playing through all the campaigns was very enjoyable. I loved it.

This game didn’t age well because of the battlefront 2 fiasco. But I’m not talking about the second. I’m talking about the first.
The first battlefront got the feeling right. It looked so good when it came out, it was clear that EA had the strongest engine. The sound design was also so on point. The guns and lasers were perfect Star Wars. It also needs to be mentioned how incredibly good I was for full disclosure. I’m usually very good at video games and I pick them up quick but this was a different story. It’s hard to not have a great time well you are crushing and it looks and sounds good while you do it.

I don’t remember the campaign at all at this point. But I remember thinking it wasn’t great. The multilayer on the other hand I absolutely loved. I liked the early stages of the war zone mode. It maybe started some bad gaming industry habits but I can’t deny that it was really fun. Then the arena multiplayer was also just as good, probably better. I played halo 5 when it came out a lot.
I stopped for a year or maybe two. And then I picked it up again and played some more halo for a couple weeks. It was still fun and lots of new maps and game modes were there. Then I stopped again until I think last summer, where I once again started playing all the halos. All the halos are still really really fun arcade shooters. Nothing has done a good job replicating what halo does for an arcade multiplayer. Name another shooter that has the same arcade feeling to it that’s even close to this level (for multiplayer, don’t say doom).
I’ll probably pick up the halos again before halo infinite comes out. It seems likely.
I picked them up again. Halo 5 still feels great. It’s an amazing shooter. Playing the campaign on legendary with 2 other people was a fun way to do it.

Horizon Zero Dawn looks amazing. Every part of the presentation is fantastic. The environment, whether it’s the snow areas, lush forest areas, or desert areas all look amazing. The character models and the machines look amazing when just standing there but where this game takes it to a whole other level is the animations of Aloy and the machines. It is so impressive the way the machines and Aloy move and attack. It looks more natural and fluid than any other game Ive played. I don’t usually start with the games strongest pro but I think that the visual presentation of this game is it’s most impressive achievement. That being said it isn’t the only good thing about HZD.
The gameplay is very crisp as well. Now if you know me you know that I love using a bow in video games. I don’t know why, I just usually find it satisfying. This game has a lot of bow action if you choose to use it. I did. And I liked it. The different ways you have to pick apart the machines and the different types of effects your weapons can do creates a very dynamic, visually pleasing, combat system that is very enjoyable for a long time. The different machines behave in different ways so the enemy variety doesn’t get stale either for a long time. The first T. rex fight gets a shout out. Felt epic.
The rpg elements are good, but they aren’t anything unique or special. You have enough weapons to use and ways to upgrade them (although I used a lot of bows because they were my favourite). You gather resources a la Far Cry style to craft ammo and items. You gather resources from defeated machines. It’s fun and creates a sense of progression that games like this need and it does it in an enjoyable way that didn’t get repetitive for me.
The story I thought was good not great. I love the big picture main idea behind the story. Evolution of machines is right up my ally and it’s done in an interesting way. But the side quests and really most of the stuff wasn’t about the history of this fantastic world was just alright.
Final Score: A+
