Hot Lava is still in beta, but I already love it. I always adored jumping in first-person games. Especially in the Quake series: strafe-jumping, bunny-hopping, all that jazz about momentum. Hot Lava is completely about that. And, you know, Klei Entertainment just can't make a bad game.

I love the first game and glad to say the second part is even better. New characters and abilities are impressive, the plot twist is awesome (I wasn’t so involved into the story when I played the original game) and boss battles are challenging.

However, the game seemed a little bit easy comparing to the first one. I think, that happened  because Banner Saga was my first turn-based strategy, and now I have more experience at this genre. And I noticed the game was too short - like a filler part, it was over too quickly.

Anyway, The Banner Saga 2 is a highly recommended game - go for it, it’s really worth its money (and it’s not very expensive). I’m looking forward to the third, final part ♥️

I thought this would be fun, gory and crazy. In fact this was very disappointing and boring, I quit after playing couple of levels in single-player.

First, there are just two types of the fighting moves you have in the game—kick and stick-punch. I had hoped for more variety of how you can eliminate your opponents. Secondly, I had expected more power-ups and perhaps less real, so to speak, environment. But there's nothing fictional about the game which, in my opinion, is a huge miss to deliver a greater fun to the gameplay. Lastly, the visual style and overall look suck ass.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare's - 8/10
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare's gory encounters. Well-placed killing blows send limbs and heads flying, accompanied by fountains of blood spewing from drippy stumps that call to mind the iconic Black Knight duel in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It's hilarious at times and excessively gruesome. Gutting foes has a lot more weight to it here than in other recent entries in the Medieval combat genre like War of the Roses or Mount and Blade: Warband. That alone doesn't make Chivalry the best in its class, but it does incite a certain bloodlust that'll keep you charging into the chaos. Before heading into the crazed multiplayer matches that are Chivalry's lifeblood, the cleverly designed single-player tutorial is a fun little diversion that serves as an introduction to the conflict between the underhanded Mason Order and the virtuous Agathian Knights. Roaming different regions of the coastal settlement, you tackle training for basic and advanced combat, test out siege weapons, and take each of the four core warrior classes for a spin. Then it's off to war. The quartet of unique class types is more versatile than it first appears. On one end of the spectrum you have heavily armored Knights -- powerful and capable of absorbing lots of damage at the cost of speed. Vanguard look similar but are more moderately armored, can charge short distances, and are adept at wielding heavy spears and polearms. Sacrificing armor for speed, Men-At-Arms are zippy warriors who can quick-dodge. While these three melee-oriented classes each let you make substantive contributions in battle, Archers are the weakest link. Using a bow in Chivalry is sluggish, imprecise, and far more of a hassle than it's worth.** Other classes also have access to secondary short-range missile weapons too. Admittedly, I love the Archer's arrow cam, which is a cool feature, but long-range combat is nowhere near as fun as it should be -- it feels unnecessarily punitive. When you get down to it, the broad range of weapons is what really set each warrior type apart in function and helps complement their inherent strengths. Each class' basic loadout can be expanded by hitting certain kill quotas with a given weapon, unlocking the next one in line. There's a lot of different gear to open up for each character. You can carry a heavy primary weapon, a lighter secondary weapon, and an unlockable special item into battle, which leaves ample room for tinkering until you find the sweet spot loadout-wise.

The unexpected mix of puzzle-platformer and... PINBALL! This game has no competitors. It is the best game of its genre :D
I remember that I played this game, I was 13-14 yo or something. There was a local gaming shop in our neighborhood. I was looking for a new game for my Sega Mega Drive and went there. Asked for a dope game. The owner of the shop said to me "Yeah, there is a game, Shinobi but it's so hard for you mate. It's more like adults can play and finish it". Well, great challenge for me! I said "ok, give me that", bought that game and came home. The next day, took the game with me and went to shop again. He said to me "you see, it's hard isn't it?". I said "Sir, the last boss was not that hard actually. You can beat him when he's sending you asteroids... bla bla..." He was looking at me like "wtf, this kid is something else".. Ahh good old days!

Dead Space may very well be the prototype space horror game out there. It is a first-person-shooter first and foremost but tells a compelling story on it's way.

The year is 2508. You are an engineer tasked to repair a mining starship stranded in space which has gone silent. As you board the ship, the story unfolds...

As it happens, while mining, some ancient, dark, evil secret (think of 2001: A Space Odyssey paired with Event Horizon) was unearthed which infested the starship and now you have to fight your way through.

So, an FPS in space. Boring, nothing new? Not so fast! The game excels in a number of points. Apart from the AI which is quite good and gives you a number of shocker moments you have to decide throughout the game how to spend your upgrades. You can upgrade your weapons or your armor - how much hitpoints you have or how long you can survive in outer space (your oxygen reserve).

Upgrading your weapons is what really makes this game fun (and adds a lot to replayability). The weapons are completely diverse and upgrading them adds new functionality. You have to decide which weapons to upgrade in which way (you can always decide to upgrade clip size, reload time, output and if you upgrade to the end you get a bonus fire mode).

This is one of the games you will want to play on the hardest mode again and again and test out if your choices were viable.

To sum it up, the design team behind this game did their work. The upgrade system for your weapons (in an FPS) in Dead Space is easily the best you will find. I played through this twice just to test out different weapons. And if you like a good space horror story, this game is an easy bet.

Also, this is one of the FPS where your choices and skills really matter. You will be eaten up alive if you approach this casually. If you put some thought into it you may go a long way :)

Dead Space is one of those games I will always come back to every few years - just to see the story once more like in a good movie and because every playthrough is different (based on your upgrade choices).

I got this game quite soon after release as a Christmas gift and it made me a Wing Commander zealot for the rest of my life :)

Back in the day, on my first PC, this game had wonderful graphics, a superb story line and, being the proud owner of a SoundBlaster back then, I still have memories of the tunes that were used in combat and in the cutscenes, which were nothing short of amazing. Coupled with the fact that there was or is an active online community (centered around https://www.wcnews.com/) which I took part in for many years, the Wing Commander series were a formative point of my gaming career. Also it helped me much with my english proficiency :)

The game is about space combat paired with an interactive story line, nothing more and nothing less. The result of your performance in your sorties advances the story on the winning or losing path. It is a space opera in the best sense and certainly respected as a milestone in gaming history, spawning four major successors, not counting the Privateer offshoot.

It is fair to say that the game has not aged well. I would not play it again (I did maybe up until 10 years ago) but rather watch a playthrough on YouTube to relive it.

On the technical side, this is one of the games that never crashed and did not have any bugs.

If any WC1 cracks read this, I did manage to beat the impossible Kurasawa mission once and could never repeat the feat.

This game holds a special place in my heart. I was very anxious to get my hands on it after it was released (I had played and loved Star Control 2 before) and, not being able to afford games at full price as a kid, I had to wait until a certain chain of shops had it as a bargain title, months after the release (and even had to travel to a different city because the one shop in the closest city didn't carry it).

That being said, the game is frowned upon in the very active Star Control online community. The game mechanics are (oh the heresy) quite different from the very popular Star Control 2 (which itself was very different from Star Control 1) and the game was not made by the original creators of the Star Control series. It is a shame that because of that, it never really had a shot in the community, because if you forget these two things, it is game about exploring space and interacting with alien cultures with a rich and engaging story line (which, admittedly, is more easily accessible if you played Star Control 2 although the developers made an effort to make it accessible to everyone).

The graphics are OK for the time. The soundtrack, which consists mostly of different themes for different aliens, is nice. The game mechanics are mostly good, exploring space and building bases is challenging until halfway through the game. What I liked a lot were the actual conversations with aliens and the voice acting as I was learning English back then. Your conversation choices are what really drives the story and decide which path you get on. The best thing about this game is the story which I think is in the spirit of the original creators. The story advances by events that happen in time and by your own actions.

This is one of the very few games that I install every couple of years to play it once again. If you liked Star Control 2 or a good story with exploration and spaceship battles (and are not a Star Control zealot :-D) you should try this!

The idea within the game is great but you can’t enjoy it. The controls are unresponsive and just don’t fit the active gameplay this game seems to provide. So it’s easy to get angry - also because you sometimes feel lost and don’t know where to go and what to do.
«Disappointment of the year»
A very boring game that isn’t balanced well. Even after hours you spend playing it, your character isn’t strong enough to fight properly. And this really frustrated me. I can’t enjoy this piece of trash and I don’t want you to suffer like me.

So sad that Visceral Games won’t make another great game for us. Dead Space is a masterpiece. It perfectly stands the test of time, and becomes even more enjoyable with every playthrough.

Arguably the best game in the Aliens series. The marine campaign is the best part of it, though the other two are good. When you play as a Predator, be ready for a challenge - not for long but it’ll be hard. The Alien campaign is the shortest one but fun and has some nice features like transitioning between surfaces. Multiplayer is dead but you have other thing to love this game for.
