Great standalone; even better if you play the rest of the series. Still replaying after beating it 8 times.

It was fun when it worked....It never worked.

Terribly unbalanced, but so much fun. I'm sad that this game probably won't get a sequel because nobody gave a shit about the first one. It had 16-player deathmatch lobbies with gameplay like Beyonetta. RIP Anarchy Reigns.

Dirge of Cerberus have certain fame about being a bad game because is a TPS, I don't mind that kind of comments a lot but just after a few minutes of playing it was easy to see why is not good. Is not that this game is terrible bad, it is playable (somehow) and it has a few pretty good moments from a fan-service or story point of view but, it feels unpolished on every way, from the combat to the story, every thing has some serviceable but interesting ideas that lack too much in its execution, its like this game is trying to hard to be a mix between, DMC, MGS and RE4 but more on that later.

Starting with the combat system, your main attacks are ranged, you can choose between a fairly simple and customizable set of weapons, the main problem with it is that the targeting system doesn't work, your targets move too randomly and fast while your reticule isn't that precise and stiff, the game starts with an auto-aim stat, which I turned off for most of the game aside from a couple of boss battles were they moved ridiculously fast and it wasn't challenging but annoying, so I strongly recommend that you maintain the auto-aim turned on, the hassle is not worth it. You can also attack with melee attacks and transform with consumable items into a powered version of Vincent ala DMC, this as the targeting system feels underdeveloped, your hit-boxes are pretty reduced and you can only hit your enemies while they're in front on you and a lot of more nuisances. Lastly at the end of every stage, your killing points and several other stuff can transform into experience points to level up your stats or into money, I recommend that you don't bother with the EXP and go full money to upgrade your equipment, since your stats grows too slow.

Being an action game one would expect that this will have a nice balance between story and gameplay, focusing more on the later to keep things moving forward, the problem is that there are a lot of chunks where the game decides to throw exposition and 10-15 minutes long uninteresting cutscenes, this hurts a lot the experience that is not good to begin with.

As far as the story goes and maybe the reason a lot of people is playing this game, it's for the most part boring, it has certain throwbacks and nods to the original, it has some things that I really liked specially towards the end which I don't spoil, the cast is OK, the villains has some charm and they seem too inspired in MGS for their own good they're quirky and its motivations feel like Dead Cell or Cobra Unit but barebones and generic, Vincent wasn't one of my favorites in FF VII and he still isn't, there are some cameos but the game focuses more in a couple of characters of the original, which adds some lore, although the worst part is the voice acting, like almost every JRPG it is too cartoony and goofy and breaks a lot the original intention.

Overall I don't think this game is unplayable but it is certainly a fans-only, since it depends a lot of previous knowledge of the lore and builds on it, don't recommend it even for fans, since is boring and soul-less, but if you want to expand your FF VII lore if only a little, maybe you can try it.

A nice scifi puzzle game with gameplay mechanics where you control a drone and cameras on a space station to achieve your goals. There are some weak puzzles and sometimes it's a bit unclear what you're supposed to find or do. The background for the story is revealed by listening to audio logs you find on laptops around the station. The controls are weird, sometimes even bad. They seem to be optimized for a controller, with a mouse and a keyboard there are some weird choices. But you're never in a hurry (although plot-wise there is a reason to be) so it's fine.

The graphics are good, although a bit glitchy occasionally. There are details that make the space station look like an actual space station, which adds immersion. Sound design is also good, especially the sound effects.

I could recommend this to people who like puzzle games in general. The plot is a bit predictable, but not bad. There are some horror vibes at times, but unless you're very jumpy, I would say there are no jump scares.
Fantastic game with great characters and setting. Shite port, though. Can't really recommend it in its current state. I'm not even able to get the platinum trophy, as a trophy is bugged. Shambles.
Sekiro is that perfect blend between a popular format you know you love, but with enough fresh twists to feel totally new. While it shares many aspects with other From Software games, it still feels distinctly different.  I'll never forget the rush of satisfaction after landing the first Parry, as the camera swirls in to setup the deathblow.

(One day I'll go back and finish the final boss, but I loved the journey there so much anyway it hardly matters)

I've tried a few times to get into Dark Souls over the years and it never stuck. But if you just happen to try it at the right moment in your life, it will absolutely blow you away. People talk about how frustrating this game is, and while that is certainly true, I would say the more important aspect is the overcoming of that frustration, and learning to love the process of failure-as-improvement.

If you're perhaps feeling a bit unsatisfied in your life, please try this out, and remember that dying is not failure, merely a step along the journey to success

I haven't even played this, but it's so obviously a skip. Might as well call it "Misogyny: The Game"

It probably goes without saying that the most popular video game genre is the sports game. Games like Madden or NBA 2K sell millions every single year. Yet when it comes down to it, what does it mean to make a sports game. Obviously the simulation of the sport in question is paramount, one has to feel like they are playing the game. However, how much detail do you need to create that simulation. What if you can make a sports game that is as simple as possible. And that is the beauty of Pong. Two lines, one square, a simple score layout, and a minor bit of electronic sound to register hits and scores. And yet, it does feel like you’re playing table tennis. Now one could argue it’s dated, one could pull up that it was a ripoff of something Maganox did, but the fact remains that Pong has lasted the ages and…it is possible, that without Pong…video games wouldn’t be what they are now

While the version I grew up with had better graphics (I played a copy of the Apple II port from 1974, the original had no graphics at all), this version still retained the fun of trying to survive the trail. The history aspect is also really interesting, allowing the player to live the history and understand the different context better than a simple text book would. The game-play is very simple, and familiar to people who have played old-school text adventure games. Press Y to indicate yes, press N to indicate no, use numbers to choose from a menu. Simple, yet effective. It’s the scope this game creates in the mind that helps it to surpass such simplicity, which is pretty impressive for a game that is almost 50 years old now.

Okay, so to recap, I didn't like Baldur's gate I. But this... This is something else. In Shadows of Amn, characters are more alive, the story is much more interesting and engaging, and subquests were thought through well.
Don't get me wrong, graphics is still outdated, but this game is still a piece of art in terms of storytelling. It's quests are pretty unconventional, and it definitely deserves your attention, even in 2020.

A short horror visual novel. The less you know before starting the better. Just be prepared to read a lot. Trying it doesn't cost anything so why not?
Terrible controls, even with xbox pad. Don't even consider playing on keyboard, it's a nightmare.
Graphics is still ok, sound is well... star-wars-ish. Music is your next game from the series.
Plot is barely holding together, but well.
In the end game is short and gameplay is fun, so why not?
a cute little time-passer with all the demon girls my heart could desire 💖
