good game but the boss fights are awful and ruined the game for me
I can't recommend this game solely because of Marauders. They are the single worst designed enemy in any DOOM game to date. As for the rest of the game, the level design is overall worse than DOOM 2016, and there's a tacked on progression system that feels like it locking you out of Doomguy's full kit. To get fully upgraded, you have to take a break from the action and go on a scavenger hunt around each level. Any one of these things would have been okay on their own, but all of it together makes this a subpar game when compared to 2016.

Some others have said the combat system itself is overloaded. I have to agree, but I don't see this as a negative. You absolutely HAVE to use all of the tools available to you, including several skills that are all on different cooldowns, in order to survive on the two hardest difficulties. This results in extremely frantic combat. I enjoy it, but I can see this being a downside for some.

The level design is just... baffling? They kept the "arena" focused design of DOOM 2016, but made the arenas extremely difficult to navigate effectively, with pits to avoid, sticky goo that prevents you from moving, slower movement speed, a rechargeable dash, and monkey bars (?). I found myself distracted with the environment and hunting for ammo/trash mobs entirely too often.

Subpar level design, tacky progression systems, terribly low ammo pools, and Marauders being overall terrible make DOOM Eternal a disappointment.

I echo a lot of the thoughts in the following review. I strongly recommend reading it if you're interested in DOOM Eternal. https://steamcommunity.com/id/BlackKnight0303/recommended/782330/

This game about fairy tale characters is better than most crime fiction on HBO.

Low-key this game isn’t that bad. Sure it’s story is terrible, but that means you can enjoy the absurdity. The gameplay is glitchy as Hell but that just means it’s like a box of chocolates and you never quite know what you’re gonna get. Also the music is legitimately good, so there’s that. So uh yeah 9/10 would kiss a dead hedgehog again.

This REmake deserves all the praise it cant get! There is just so much love in that game you can literally feel it while playing.

Game of the year for me, im sure it wont be beaten by FFVII or any other game this year. Already spent 65 hours since it came out 12 days ago.

Probably the best Animal Crossing yet with the most freedom so far, you can build everything, create anything, invite amiibos like in New Leaf and so many things like create (literally) your own island.
The only downside is the advertised multiplayer is very lackluster and fundementally flawed but as an Animal Crossing game where usually you play solo and sometime visit a friend to his island to trade, this is absolutely perfect.

Edit after 160 hours: Now there are definetly downgrades like less shops, way less furniture sets and its really hard to find furniture compared to New Leaf which is still a way superior game. But if i want the freedom in building my town/island then its nice to switch over to Horizon but it gets boring after a while, unless you're consistently building, since there's not much else to do.

Even when you have 10 villagers the interaction is lackluster compared to earlier titles and the villagers feel very underdeveloped and have very repeative dialog that either revolves around what you're wearing or a stupid one liner that everyone says. They all kinda say the same thing and i noticed it right away but didnt care until same repeativity was active 100 hours later lol. Still having fun but i can clearly notice frustrating patterns to the repeative gameplay. As a matter of fact my interest in New Leaf has resurrected, that game has everything except as much freedom in building.

Also there are bugs and crashes which is very concerning, depending where you place furniture outside and then engage in conversations, i had to move my house and a few items in order to stop crashing in the same place.

It's a lamer version of Monster Hunter that I played only once for like 30 minutes.

There's a bit of a learning curve for Noodle that can get a bit frustrating, but it's pretty fun and chill once you get the hang of it. I think I got annoyed by the soundtrack though, I ended up muting it and put on Spotify.

This is such an adorable little game. Its concept and art style instantly had me hooked. Its story is great for kids, but it's also pretty mature and doesn't talk down to them at any point. It made me laugh several times and got me emotional at one point, I'm a 24 year old man. I fully intend on sharing this gaming experience with my niece as soon as she's old enough to hold a controller. I think it's really accessible for any non gamer of all ages. You can't die at any point and the puzzles are pretty easy, I completed within a few hours. I highly recommend this if you want a casual gaming experience with a cute singing mechanic and a well written story about being true to yourself.

Not only is this a horrible badly-ported mobile game (which is one of my worst pet peeves), it's also made by a salty, butthurt babyrager who spends more time making snarky "I'm totally not mad" responses to negative steam reviews (another one of my worst pet peeves! we're on a roll today) than actually trying to make a control scheme that works on PC.

Good job, lad. Maybe skip the PC release next time.

The music destroyed every PC speaker
I'm torn on this game because of its place in the zeitgeist of a post-#MeToo world but I will ultimately recommend it not only for its novelty but for its (whether intentional or not) deconstruction of the male fantasy; even when you win, the path that got you there is quite laughable in its absurdity. Much of the intentional humor is found in your primary playable character making a problematic ass of himself, while working tirelessly to be arrested for sexual misconduct. The game will chastise you for engaging in these behaviors. That said, it also begs you to witness the outrageous outcomes for yourself. Self-aware or not, I'd say this game should come with a heavy content warning for any victim of sexual misconduct. I would not be recommending it at all if I felt that the material threw stones down at victims. The men are never rewarded for shitty behavior in this game and if I had to criticize it, I'd say its irreverence toward its subject matter isn't always earned.

walking sim with some really neat mechanics for delivering a fun and believable story
The gameplay and overall concept is super interesting, but it has one of the worst UI I've seen in a long time.

It's Tetris with style. Enough said.

I made the mistake of only playing KH I and II, thought that would've been fine because I'm not really in these games for the story. I enjoyed the difficulty and gameplay of those two, but three was so incredibly easy, it was boring for me. It was only within the last 4 hours that I was actually having fun playing the game. If you're a fan, go for it, but if you're not one like me, definitely skip.

I have a lot of praise for Death Stranding despite some major flaws, the biggest being its writing. There was a lot of intrigue in the beginning, but then the characters started dumping exposition in long-winded monologues and repeated this information over, and over, AND OVER again to the point I was getting frustrated and less interested as it went on, especially when it brought the gameplay to a grinding halt. Whenever Deadman would say something like, "Do you want to know how...?" my reaction was more or less:
It eventually picks up much-needed momentum during the very last chapter, but it takes a long time to get there and my patience was dangling on a thread by then. Scenes that were meant to be emotional were so melodramatic that it became unintentionally funny and/or eye-roll inducing, the fourth wall breaking got some of the same reactions. Some moments, it was cute and endearing, but seeing an advertisement for that Norman Reedus show made me audibly groan. I was flabbergasted by seeing the Monster on the table for the first time as I thought stylistically it clashed with the tone that was being established, but eventually accepted it and thought, "It must be saying something about capitalism in America?" Though that might be giving Kojima a lot more credit than what he actually deserves, I think he just wants to show off stuff he likes and had some kind of deal.
There's one task of note I wanna bring up and it's the one with the junk dealer. The dialogue was so poorly communicated, that I genuinely thought I was fetching the dude's daughter and then got really confused when I realized it was his girlfriend. It got way more focus than it needed and the acting was terrible, but at least reading the email drama afterward was amusing.

Even though I'm trashing on the writing, I don't think it's a complete dumpster fire as it has really interesting concepts and themes. The story would have benefited from having a real talented writer at the helm, but since having someone better than Kojima at the task wasn't an option, he could've at least presented even more of the storytelling through gameplay because that's where he excels. The game design is surprisingly engrossing and immersive. As tedious as your objectives are, the variety of circumstances that goes into each delivery keeps things dynamic throughout and whenever I get through the hardships that are presented, I feel a huge sense of accomplishment that I haven't felt from the plethora of other games I've played. There's a great balance of relaxation and tension, the landscapes are stunning, and the whole isolated multiplayer experience is unique and well-executed. I had a few failed missions, but there was only one moment that pissed me off for being unfair. Every other time was fair and it taught me to be better prepared.

I love Death Stranding. Even if I came into it expecting strong storytelling and was left disappointed by that aspect, my expectations of dull and simple gameplay were exceeded by great design and a satisfying feedback loop. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, but I think its experimentation is important in expanding the medium of video games as an art form. I look forward to playing the end game.
