An another "nostalgia trip" for Sonic fans, who will never shut up about how stupid it is for Sonic to have a voice.
Jk, the game is actually very fun, enjoyable, and most importantly, accurate to the classic physics (something, that Sonic Team has struggled to do in Generations and Forces). The only problem however is that it's not really "new". It's mostly a remixed version of the classics, the major reason of which is a plot point, that makes it a prequel to Forces. That's the biggest problem since if you have played (or still playing) those classics regularly, you might find Mania to be lacking in originality. It's there, but not as much as needed.
tl;dr The game is good, but too much relies on nostalgia and lacks (mostly) something new. It's worth buying only if you just need another reason to play MegaDrive games, but in a fresh coat of paint and remixed.

«Just one more turn»
«Can’t stop playing»
It's probably objectively the best 2D Sonic game. There are no cheap deaths, which was a major issue in the old games. However, I did not enjoy it as much as I expected. There is something about the charm of the OG games that can't be replicated. Also, it reuses a lot of content and some levels were too long. That said, this is still my go-to if I want to play 2D Sonic.
The best bits of Sonic 3 and Sonic CD mashed together with care. Not so much a new story as a celebration of the 2D Sonic era. Considerably tougher to beat than the original games.
«OST on repeat»
if you like 2d sonic, you'll like this. a couple of the overarching level ideas and some of the level elements are kinda weird, but they always work.
